Re: CT scan

Hi. I don’t remember any Cea readings before surgery. I was sent to A@E with a pain in my gut after two weeks of antibiotics. I was admitted and given a scan and four hours later was having an emergency right hemicolectomy. Just in time they said, as the bowel was beginning to perforate. As my surge...

Re: 10 years and counting ...

Congratulations! We’ve been together for a long time. In a bit over a month I’ll reach my 10 year mark too. Thanks for all your support. X

Dr and nurse just said to leave the hernia alone. I was looking through my notes from the surgery ten years ago and the hernia was mentioned then! So it’s not new and maybe it’s time to take a deep breath and convince myself that I’m ok!

Re: CT scan

Well, I finally had the scan a few days ago! No polyps thankfully. An inguinal hernia found and I’ll talk to the Dr tomorrow. I can’t see any sign of it and there are no symptoms. Anyway, it’s good to finally have the scan. Should have done it months ago. Thanks for the advice and help.

Re: CT scan

Thanks Suelee. I’m still dithering and I suspect my colorectal nurse and my GP are losing patience. The advice always is ‘it’s up to me!’ I suggested wait until next January and the nurse was ok with that. But as you wrote, it would be nice to get it out of my head. It costs a bit too as it’s not a ...

CT scan

It’s just over nine years since my bowel cancer surgery. At the magic five year mark when I saw my colerectal nurse for the final appt she suggested I might consider a CT scan in January this year. Which is now! It is mainly for reassurance as I get very anxious. I’ve not had any symptoms since surg...

9 year anniversary.

13 Nov is the 9 year anniversary of my emergency extended right hemicolectomy. Very traumatic at the time but I got through it and all is well. An encouraging post for those who are newly diagnosed. Best wishes.

Colonography?

It was suggested that I have a colonography about five years after my colonoscopy which was all clear. That time has arrived now and as I have health anxiety, I’m wondering if it’s really necessary. I’ve read that polyps can take up to ten years to grow? The initial surgery was in November 2013, an ...

This is what is needed in order to properly monitor for out-of-range and accelerating PSA levels over time. These sequential PSA tests need to be d...

Re: PSA monitoring

Hi Buxton, one of my doctors has had prostate cancer for about 7 years now. He takes high dose vitamin C for it. I’ll have a chat with him next week. I usually see him every six months for a review and I take a list of questions. Bowel movements will always be variable after my cancer surgery, I ge...

Re: Six years today!

And a rare update. I’m now 7 1/2 years since bowel surgery. Continuing ‘variable bowel movements.’ Possibly that’s normal for me now especially after gall bladder removal. Prostate cancer seems under control with 0.83 psa in March, down from 1.5. COVID seems under control here, but who knows. No ja...
