Re: Fairly new to this and needing advice

I am wishing you the best of luck with your treatment. I was on FOLFOX when I had Stage IIIb colon cancer. I took the maximum oxy with all 12 rounds. I'm having my 5-year colonoscopy tomorrow. I would never disagree with a second opinion. But as you continue to do your research, please stay positive...

Re: Biopsy is in!!! Stage 3 Very Unexpected

You are going to do something for yourself. You are going to stay positive, take one day at a time, develop a plan with your doctor and then begin that plan for your recovery. I know how difficult it is when you hear the news. I had a clean colonoscopy in 2008. My GI told me everything was great and...

Re: Oxaliplatin Dosage - Call Off

I had very few side effects that would have kept me from doing all 12 rounds of oxi. I was fortunate. My oncologist and I discussed my side effects thoroughly 30 minutes before each round. It was after each of these meetings that we made the decision to move forward with FOLFOX as my plan was origin...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

From my experience, I think the sooner a plan is established the better. When healed, I started chemo as soon as I could after surgery.

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

We will have to wait to see what chemo(s) are planned for your husband. I was on Folfox (12 rounds two weeks apart). If needed, I would advise your husband to get a port. It will be life saver for his veins. Please get back when you know his chemo plan. I can give you advise on Folfox...and there ar...

I was Stage IIIb ...see below. Stay positive..and have your husband get as much exercise and rest he can during chemo. Come back to this forum for any questions you have. There are many people here who can give you guidance and advice.

Re: Diagnosed in twenties

Don't read google. That's a waste of time. Your case is not like any other. Things like side effects that affect others, may not affect you and vice versa. Follow your doctor's plan set out for you. I would add that exercise should help you in your recovery. If you have any questions as you go throu...

No matter what your doctor says, if you feel you need a colonoscopy, get one! Don't let your age be the determining factor. No one knows your body like you do.

Re: Update - Stage 3b, nearly done with adjuvant chemo

Glad you have some positive news to report. So far, so good. Have your husband keep up the exercise, in whatever form. It's important. And stay hydrated. Sounds like he's back with the right attitude. Best of luck moving forward.
