Best Oncologist in Kansas City

Hi everyone,

My mom is moving to Kansas city. I need your help.
Who is the best oncologist there? Which plan of Obama care do you recommend?

Re: Who are the longest stage 4 survivor's on here?

I'm grateful for posting this topic. When I lose my hope I come here and read all of the survival messages.
Hopefully one day I'll write here on behalf of my mother for 10 and more years survival.

Please include my mom in your prayers.
Thank you

Re: Treatment for liver mets

Do you want to know specifically about insurance in California? For treatment in California? I'll see what I can find. Personally we have been looking at insurance plans for when my DH hopes to retire. Here in Colorado, there is a plan available that covers out of state treatment, but it has a much...

Re: Treatment for liver mets

Dr. adviced 6 more chemotherapy and mentioned since they're small so small so there is no need for surgery. But I heard the only permanent treatment is surgery. I would appreciate if you let me know if chemo was successful option for you or someone that you may know. Thank you I don't have any pers...

Re: Treatment for liver mets

I would highly recommend meeting with a liver surgeon to see if they are resectable - oncologists don't always know which tumors are resectable and which are not - there's actually a paper on this!!! Then if they are resectable yay - if not I would recommend meeting with an interventional radiologi...

Re: Treatment for liver mets

I was discussing options with my oncologist about mets if they were ever found and he told me that he had recently froze a met on a patients liver. I had never heard of that. It used to be that a spread to the liver meant all hope was lost, but that has changed a lot in recent years. Many patients ...

Re: Treatment for liver mets

Just one more suggestion for you, Mother Lover. If your Mother is not happy with the treatment plan from the first consultation, you should encourage her to get a second. It's very possible that someone here would know of a good medical facility to refer her to. Wishing the best, peanut I really ap...

Re: Treatmen for liver mets

Hi Mother Lover, Sorry to hear about your Mother's diagnosis. It must be terribly difficult for you as well, worrying about her when she is so far away. You will find the people here at the Colon Club very sympathetic, knowledgable and supportive. I think it is hard for us to help when we don't kno...

Re: Treatmen for liver mets

There are several options. 5-FU alone or in combination with another drug, Avastin, Irinotecan, Vectibix or Erbitux, probably some I forgot to mention. If you don't mind, would you please update your signature. Every survivor's story gives hope to me. There are ruthless people that said to me if it...

Re: Treatmen for liver mets

Is it as hard as Folfox?
Her biggest tumor is 35 mm. Do you think it can be restricted by surgery? If yes, does she need 5-FU or any other drug?
