Re: Any young, long term survivors? Need hope

Hi ,
I have been here on and off for ten years ! In that time many ,many young people have passed through the forum and no longer come here as they have picked up the pieces of their lives and moved on !
Sometimes they pop back up and say Hi !
Take care ,

Hi ,

So sorry to hear you are having to endure cancer too but sounds as though you are managing with all that has been thrown at you !

Thinking of you both and hope it won’t be too long till you join your husband in the NED category !

Re: New research into the effects of 5-FU

Not even going to pretend to understand most of it but kind of getting a feel for some of it ! Interesting point about the subgroup of patients maybe responding differently. My mum is in the process of signing up to take part in some form of research . They are looking into long term survival. Rough...

Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

I agree , 29 is just way to young to even have to think of these matters . However I am very proud of you despite the fear advocating for your health and getting assessed . That took courage ! I am still hoping it’s some other benign condition for you but if it is not please remember bowel cancer ca...

Re: end of adjuvent chemo in sight...

Hi , I just want to wish you well as you move into this new phase in your recovery . Purely an observation here but I have had a good opportunity to observe!! I noted that it was period of time and uncertainty but with good scanning results some confidence grew and with time this horrible stage ease...

Can’t answer your question but certainly witnessed my mum hit a few bumps in the road and found a way through ! We are not big on chemo for life over here . She has actually only ever had 12 cycles in total !
Hope your team gets a good plan for you !

Re: Better scans maybe

Nothing yet , sorry ! So far the top MRI seems to be more in use for research !!!! Strokes and other types of illnesses. Hopefully the proposed one for the cancer centre is for general use !
Still trying to find out what clinical work it covers if any !

Re: Better scans maybe

I seem to be running aground with finding information! It seems it’s a research MRI and has some clinical use but it does not specify what ! The one at cancer centre is only £100000 away from being funded and hopes to do more but again they don’t give away to many details . I will need to find out m...

Re: Better scans maybe

We have a t7 MRI at our new hospital ! To be fair I think the rest of the country might not have them yet but we do and our cancer centre is fundraising for a more sophisticated one !
Other than that I think it’s in general use !
