Re: Oxiplatin as a stand alone chemo

Hi Robert. I just finished 8 treatments of oxiplatin alone post surgery for a different reason. I have Lynch syndrome and 5FU is not effective on patients with Lynch syndrome. My oncologist had no concerns about using oxiplatin alone. I recently got the good news of NED. I hope this helps & best...

Re: Your stories - Anyone with Stage 3 decided against chemo

I'm not stage 3, but even at stage II I'm beginning chemo again on Monday. Like Sophie, in my head I think the cancer is gone. I have a 14 yo & 11 yo that I want to stay around for & I have Lynch syndrome (putting me at a higher risk for certain cancers) so I decided chemo was the best thing...

Re: Start Chemo tomorrow

I'm starting the same chemo drugs on Monday, minus the 5FU because my oncologist said it is not effective for patients with Lynch syndrome. 8 treatments over 16 weeks. Tam, exercise helped me with fatigue during previous chemo...sometimes it was just a walk around the block. I also drink a minimum o...

Re: Family rant

Good thing they left early, I bet you & your hubby did a happy dance. Joy, my mom is the same, it's all about her and her receiving attention/sympathy. All I hear is how hard all of this is on her, etc. I lost it with my brother last week. He told me it seems I've had more bad days tha...

Re: Hysterectomy?? Lynch??

Unfortunately I don't have any advice for you, Michelle, but thank you for starting this thread. I have Lynch which was discovered after surgery and a full hysterectomy is something that has been mentioned. I'm leaning towards the hysterectomy but I have chemo coming up & have had 7 surgeries th...

Re: Upcoming Rectal Surgery, nervous, clueless, scared shitl

I had my surgery a month ago. Don't be afraid to ask your surgeon questions, it helped me to write down questions in a notebook as I thought of them & took the notebook to my appointments. The first few days after surgery were very painful but by day 3 it was better. I was off of pain meds 7 day...
