Re: Voxx...thinking of you

The actual update on my condition is contained in a thread deceptively called update.

update featuring herceptin and lapatinib

Last update I had just had my ascites drained and the liquid biopsy drawn. The ascites only 3 weeks later are as bad or worse than before. I intend on having it drained this week again. The liquid biopsy revealed 9 alterations 2 of which are supposedly good targets. The mutations are ERBB2 and FGFR2...

paracentesis

I have a number of updates but will break them down into separate topics as I am too lazy to type it all out at once ha. Anyway - had a paracentesis yesterday. 5.5L of fluid drained. Can now eat, drink, and breath normally though I think they didn't actually get all the fluid out. The actual procedu...

Re: Would you get chemo for stage IIA?

I was IIa and chose not to do chemo. The cancer recurred. However - given the same information I had available then, I would still make the same decision. There are possible consequences no matter what you choose. Keep gathering info so you can make an informed decision.

Re: 900 pt CEA jump after 1 cycle of trial TAS-102

Chemo does strange things to CEA. I would confirm growth with scans before writing tas-102 off.

Re: Important letter - attn: all scared and lost

I'm not going to say much here but I find his advice sophomoric and not particularly useful. And yes, that tone creeps in here in some of these posts of new age superiority that turns me off to say the least.

Re: some general whining

Thanks for the various kind words and good advice. (I also would have accepted - STOP WHINING!) I'm feeling a bit better physically today. Unfortunately one of my friends either died or is about to die. He has been declared essentially brain dead and the respirator is coming off today. I guess you c...

some general whining

Sorry if I have not been my somewhat cheerful self this last week or so but life is weighing on me. I feel a little better physically but the diuretic I have been prescribed is so mild that it isn't going to cut it. (spironolactone) Damn I just want to have enough energy to get basic things done. My...

Re: My Blood Biopsy Story (From Voxx66's News from Dr appt post)

Thanks very much for the great info. I'll post what they find once my results are in. Also - I think the reason the companies are waiving the fee in my case is that Siteman is a big cancer center and they are trying to show the ways these tests can be useful.

Maybe I support it - Maybe I don't. This is the sort of issue I am staying clear of on this forum. (My FB friends know my thoughts as that is an appropriate venue ha)

Re: Blood Clot & Port

Some people clot in response to the tube stuck into the Vein even if they never clotted before. I think that is what happened to me. My body didn't like that much.

Re: What doctors say while you're under anesthesia

I think there is a slight possibility this patient really was extremely difficult. Not excusing the behavior but I can understand it somewhat.
