Re: Ascites, etc.

Cindyz, I do have trouble getting food/drinks down. The ascites just makes things more uncomfortable once I start. I am having better luck than Stephen, though. I eat whenever I'm awake, no matter how little. My problem is that to gain real muscle weight, I need to eat about 2100 calories a day. I k...

Re: Ascites, etc.

Cindy, I'm also battling ascites, for about 3 months now. I gained 50lbs in 3 weeks, all in my abdomen. I look 7 or 8 months pregnant. Diuretics helped slightly...about 10lbs worth. After a months worth of tests they found a UTI and the hydrogen balloon test showed a bacterial overgrowth. Got rid of...

Yes, Terry, we all have feelings to work through and low points. Even me. I have the same right to feelings as anyone and have low points as well.

Re: Did you or do you smoke

I never smoked. I also didn't cause my cancer, but thanks for asking. It seems that we want to believe it's our fault and so do people around us. I lived the best I could. I had a pretty stress filled life but that was what happened TO me, not things I did to create drama. I am playing the hand I've...

Re: I'd like to propose a whining day. What do you think?

Me, me! Pick me! Ok, my turn. Great idea BTW. Ok, I have 50lbs of fluid weight in my abdomin that I gained in 3 weeks. Yes, 50 lbs in 3 weeks....and I didn't get to eat bad stuff! :? It has effected my balance and my ability to walk any distance at all. So I sit and rest and then can't get up from t...

Re: Vit D Testing

I get my vit D checked twice a year because I malabsorb fat. That means I have trouble with vitamins A, D, E and K as they are fat soluable. I supplement these with water soluable products. Anyway, I just got my most recent lab results and my vitamin D is a good solid 55! WooHoo! I'll take that any ...

Re: Mitomycin C

I had Mitomycin C 2/09, 6/09 and 9/09. The first dose I hardly noticed. A month later I started Stereotactic radiation to the liver. It was a daily dose for 5 weeks and was very intense. My rad onc actually said that he calculated the dose that would kill me and dialed it back a notch. Very intense....

Re: Test Results

Great news! I'm so happy to hear this today - I needed good news. Please don't "compared to what you're going through". Remember when friends didn't want to share their daily frustrations because it was nothing compared to cancer? I hate that. It just keeps you out of each others lives. We...

Re: New and looking for advice - Please!

You know, my docs all suggested recording my appts. I took them up on it. I don't record many anymore but did especially early on in the process when they were shelling out lots of info at every appt. That is also when I was not as familiar with lingo and treatments. It was very helpful for research...

Re: So Blessed

Happy 30th! What a wonderful day. Trust me, the people that love you enjoyed the day at least as much as you did. I have trouble accepting all the blessings I've received and asking for what I need. It's been a long time and I keep needing more and more. When someone genuinely wants to be there for ...

Isn't it amazing how far up the word 'unremarkable' has come in our vocabulary? I would have been bored with that word 3 years ago. Now it's WONDERFUL
