Tail bone pain

Hi All, I’m about 6 months out from ULAR and 5 weeks out from ileostomy reversal. After my ULAR in June, I had a bit of trouble with a leak from my new join. I ended up with a large abscess which was drained. It was very painful and just felt like massive pressure on my tailbone area. It then reoccu...

Re: Chemo/radiation - tablets or iv infusion?

Thank you all so much for your responses! I’m not really sure why we went with 5-FU, I haven’t really had any break between my FOLFOX and CRT, so maybe that is why? I will definitely chat to my oncologist on Tuesday. I’m happy to do whatever they think is the best for my treatment. Roadrunner and gr...

Chemo/radiation - tablets or iv infusion?

Hi! I have just started my radiation/chemo for 6 weeks. My oncologist has put me of the 5FU pump through my port. Having the pump on me 24/7 is doing my head in! I was just wondering what others have usually had or if anyone has swapped from the pump to tablets during treatment. From what I’ve resea...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi, it’s going ok. I’m just getting over my round 3 infusion. It’s really knocked me this time. The nausea and fatigue are relentless this time round, but I’m now day 6 so hopefully will start turning the corner. I had my planning scan for my radiation/chemo on Friday so it looks like I’ll be starti...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

I may have replied to this in the past, but I'll do a brief response. I am a radiologist, but this is NOT medical advice. I saw some information in the other posts that I wanted to comment on. CT has better spatial resolution than MRI, but MRI has better contrast resolution. They have different pro...

Re: It's come back - :(

I think because it was a single met and they could remove it by keyhole surgery is why they took it out first. Originally we were thinking I wouldn’t be able to have the adrenal surgery until March, so was going to start FOLFOX and then have it removed when I have my resection. But the specialist wa...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi, I’m being treated publicly through the Monash health, had my surgery at the Dandenong hospital. I was really happy with the outcome of the operation the surgeon was great. This will be the last planned round before I have ct to see the if anything else has popped up. I’m hoping the the chemo is...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi Mark! Thanks for the fluid advice, I was just saying to my hubby tonight that i need to concentrate on my water intake over the next few days ready for Tuesday’s chemo. It’s so hard to drink the warm water during treatment!!!! No date planned as yet, I’m seeing my surgeon on Monday afternoon for ...

Re: It's come back - :(

Glad the surgery went well! Good luck with oxaliplatin. Watch out for sign of neuropathy, that's a nasty thing. We did not know enough about it and now my husband has it permanently in his feet... But if you're only getting 3 cycles you should be ok! Thanks Claudine. Yes, I’m very on to the neuropa...

Re: It's come back - :(

Hi all! Just wanted to give a little update. On Jan 8th I had surgery to remove my adrenal gland - pathology has since confirmed that the tumor was a secondary cancer to my rectum (bugger!) but they were able to remove it in once prince with clear margins. It was about 4.5cm in the end. Recovery fro...

Re: Stage 4 in Australia.

Hi Mark, I’m in Australia too (Victoria) and have often wondered about the treatment level we receive here compared to the US. I have only just been diagnosed with probable Stage 4, but so far my treatment seems aggressive as the think they can cure me. Originally they thought I was Stage 3 but the ...

Re: It's come back - :(

either way that is good news. Getting those things cut out and tossed in the incinerator after they check them out is always my preferred method. As to your earlier question my DH has not missed having most of his adrenal gland fried (His is still there because he had ablation and radiation done). ...

Re: It's come back - :(

So sorry it's back. If you never had chemo the first time, there's a chance that you have weakass cancer that will just all die. That's what I had. I had a lymph node light up near my sacrum that could not be removed via surgery, and they said I was as close to stage IV as you could get and still b...
