Stage 4 Stable = cured ?

Hello everyone, DH is still stable after a stage 4 diagnosis in 2012. After reviewing paperwork we’re now going on 3 years stable. There has consistently been nothing present in his body except for a distant calcified lymph node that has not changed size in the 2-3 years. His dr has moved him for th...

Hello all, DH has had a cough for over a month and a half. Not anything serious but when stage IV it’s hard not to worry about spread. Had scan at the end of September all was stable. Went to GP about cough and given antibiotics which did nothing for the cough. Called oncologist to see if they thoug...

Re: Stage 4 Stable ?

Thanks for your response. They actually never biopsied them except for the ones removed during the original colon resection in 2012. At the time he had 2 large distant lymph nodes remaining that could not be touched do to close proximity to aorta. They have essentially stayed there and occasionally ...

Re: Stg. 4..4 years later

Sorry for the confusion... I was referring to individuals that are NED for 5 years are considered cured.. But what about those who are stable after 5 years is stability after five years considered remission? His nodes are unable to be surgically removed because there are too many and they are very s...

Stg. 4..4 years later

DH is approaching 4 years since diagnosis. He has never had a NED scan but has had stability for over a year. My question is, is the 5 year rate dependent on NED before they allow you to be off chemo and consider you in remission or is that only relevant if you've remained at the NED mark for those ...

Stable?

Can anyone here give me insight on to what exactly a stable scan is. I hear doctors refer to a scan where they can't find anything in a normally healthy persons scan as "stable" but for those with cancer is it different? DH is stage 4 and has no end to treatment in sight. However, at every...

Re: New member to the Colon Club and an Olymphian to boot

Rob your story is very familiar to that of my DH's . You almost have had identical node locations I'd like to give you some hope and let you know my DH is over 3 years into treatment and still has a very active and full life with no end in sight. Most people would never even notice he is undergoing ...

Re: Who are the longest stage 4 survivor's on here?

Does anyone have any stories about anyone who has never been NED but has long term outcomes while still going through therapy? DH is over the 3 year mark and fortunately there appears to be no end in sight anytime soon!!
