Re: Sleen is on today show!

The Today show segment was fabulous! Joan Lundon (sp?) interviewed Sleem and Dr. Rosenburg, and called his work a "game changer". It was a bittersweet report for me, as my DH was evaluated at NCI as a candidate for the study in May of 2015. Sadly, he was not admitted into the program and p...

Re: Vectibix toe nail misery

Veronica - My husband also had infection in his toe-nails. The topical ointments and soaks didn't help, and we did our best to cushion his big toes so he could wear shoes. After several weeks, we made an appointment to see the podiatrist, who cut away the nail, exposed the infection and ordered twic...

Re: 5 more liver lesions, multiple mets in lungs

I am terribly sorry to hear this news. My husband had two similar experiences in 2014....an aborted liver resection when peritoneal mets were discovered pre-operatively. And, a few months later, an aborted HIPEC liver resection when micromets were discovered all over his liver. He chose to go back o...

Re: My lastest

My prayers are with you and your family. I hope your days are as gentle as possible. I know that the words you spoke to your daughters and your declaration of being at Peace will be a source of great comfort to them. God bless you all,

Re: End of Life Question

PEEJAY - My DH passed away two weeks ago. He had extensive mets to his liver and peritoneum, and also had lymph node and lung mets. He opted to stop treatment the end of March and "work the bucket list" as folfox, folfiri, xeloda, erbitux, etc. had failed. As soon as he stopped treatment, ...

Life and Death

My beloved husband passed away on Aug. 20th. He stayed so very strong until the last few days. The events of the last few days are something my family will never forget. The previous week had been full of opportunities to say "good-bye"....to our 3 oldest granddaughters (ages 11, 12, and 1...

Tellin the grandchildren "good-bye"

4 1/2 months after stopping treatment, my DH is declining rapidly. Home hospice services will begin this week. Our children and grandchildren have been with us as much as possible lately, but they must return home soon. Our daughter and her 3 girls live in another state...a nine hour drive. They wil...

Re: unknown cause of fever

My husband has been having "tumor fevers". Some tumors produce substances which elevate body temp. Other times, fever can be caused by tumor lysis (tumor death), which would be good news. These fevers can come and go during the course of a few hours or days, but they are not signs of infec...

Re: It is what it is

Richard - The last time chemo "worked" to beat back my husband's disease was in the summer of 2014. He stopped chemo for 6 weeks in preparation for HIPEC and liver resection, but that surgery was aborted when micro-mets were found throughout the liver. After that, xeloda, erbitux and celeb...
