Cured of MCRC after 12 years

I haven’t posted here much recently but today I am happy to happy dance share that my 12 year journey with metastatic bowel cancer has finally ended – and with a happy ending . After multiple surgeries, radiation, over 100 chemo cycles my oncologist (who is head of Oncology in my city) said last wee...

Re: Treatment For Multiple Lung Nodules In Europe?

Roadrunner - I think the hospital charged about 25,000 Euros in total for all medical costs, fully catered 2 week stay in private room for me plus a second room for my companion. Probably very cheap compared to US medical but expensive for New Zealanders used to free healthcare. I hope that you won'...

Still NED 7 years after lung laser surgery

Hi all, just wanted to share that PET scan last week shows I am still NED after surgery for multiple lung mets in Germany and UK in 2014.

A huge thank you to the people on this forum who provided information and support when I needed it, especially Maia and CB75.

Thanks
Sophy

Re: Treatment For Multiple Lung Nodules In Europe?

I had the lung laser surgery 3 times in 2014 to remove multiple mets. The location of the mets doesn't seem to rule out surgery, I had one about a cm from my heart and it was successfuly removed which Dr Ladas said could not have been done with traditional surgery. Up to 100 mets can be removed from...

Re: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy After CRT

I had radiation damage after rectal cancer treatment in 2011 as my pelvic bones started to crumble in 2016. Multiple fractures in my sacrum shown on CT and I couldn't sit or stand without pain and it got worse. My research indicated that HBOT could cure it so I asked my onc to refer me. We have a go...

Re: Is LARS a foregone conclusion? Anyone doing W&W?

I had my reconnection with a j pouch 7 years ago and for most of that time I have had digestion issues, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach cramps, vomiting. I have gradually eliminated foods that irritate and ended up with a list of things I cut out - No fruit except a few berries and limited amount o...

Re: Xeloda + Avastin Maintenance for NED people

Not quite the same but I have been taking xeloda plus celecoxib (avastin isn't funded here in New Zealand) for over 4 years, currently on round 70 and still NED. I have minimal side effects, some fatigue, sensitive hands (which may be from oxi 7 years ago) and my oncologist plans for me to stay on t...

Re: ADAPT and Celebrex - What happened?

I am still on ADAPT and CT last week shows still NED since last surgery in August 2014.

I have a good quality of life and so will probably carry on with this. I take cimetedine as well.

I have found urea cream and petroleum jelly (vaseline) neutralise the xeloda/5fu side effects when used together.

Re: Bone pain

Hi Sara, your mothers pain might be due to radiation damage from rectal cancer treatment. I developed this about 5 years after radiation, my sacral ilia (join between pelvis and spine) started to fracture with normal life, no falls or accidents, and not repair itself. It was very painful and only ly...
