Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

Now I’m getting concerned? He answered a lot of my questions but I didn’t know he was supposed to give me such detail. IMO that wouldn't give me reason to be concerned. I barely knew what colon cancer was when I was diagnosed. I, like you, had a board certified surgeon and I just asked the basics a...

Re: Any young, long term survivors? Need hope

I'm a ten year stage 3 survivor and I'm still under 50! :) The fear of not surviving and then the fear of it coming back used to consume me. I can't say that I never worry about it coming back, because that wouldn't be true at all. But I can go good stretches without thinking about cancer and that u...

Re: Covid 19 vaccine

Hey everyone, UPDATE: My husband received the results of his on-going vaccine clinal trial. They took a sample of his blood 1 month post 2nd dose (mRNA Moderna) and the level of his antibodies are good. According to the letter received, the amount is sufficient to offer good protection. He has abou...

Re: Grieving my past life and no one understands

I wish I could properly express in words how much I relate to what you wrote. I had to deal with a lot of anger/resentment when I was diagnosed. My friends got to continue living their carefree lives while I was in hell. My dad smoked for decades and has a diet consisting of fried/processed foods an...

Re: Great News!!!

I missed this when you posted it but so happy for you. For the next prep see if you can get Suprep. You have to drink so much less and I really had a good experience with it.

I know close to nothing about what masses are like but I do remember hearing mine was a flat, sessile mass. I wonder if that's the case.

Re: I'm officially 10 years NED!

Congratulations!! And thanks for the info on bowel prep! (I never thought I'd be saying that!) I am only 18 months in and I constantly look for stories like yours to give me real-life hope that I can do it too! Another tip on things you never thought you'd talk about in public: bidets are a game ch...

Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

Just wanted to share an update: I met with a colorectal surgeon today (board certified) and he conducted a sigmoidoscopy since my GI doctor didn’t label where the mass was. They also took blood (I’ll finally know my CEA levels) and scheduled me for a CT scan that includes the chest area (previously...

I'm officially 10 years NED!

Ten years ago I created an account on here scared out of my mind. I didn't even really know what colon cancer was when I was diagnosed. No family history, no risk factors, had given up red meat years ago, worked out four times a week and somehow I got colon cancer. It was such a mixture of confusion...

Re: Waxing Whistful - 8 years since diagnosis

I will be the first to tell you that I have not experienced one iota of survivor's guilt. Not one. I am sooooo grateful to be considered cured, but I am left with scars. Cancer has changed me, permanently, and the person I used to be is no longer with us. I miss her. I do. And sometimes it makes me...

Re: 29F. Just got a colonoscopy. They found something and I’m scared.

I know it will be hard to do but don't assume the worst when you don't know the results yet. Worst case if you do need surgery to remove it there are plenty of people who know what you're feeling and will support you. I was in the same place ten years ago. Life isn't fair but you never know how thin...

Re: Applying for New Jobs Advice

I did XELOX and handled the side effects pretty well. I kept working and going to the gym (not several days after an infusion though). If you've got the ability to wait I would. Everyone has a different experience with side effects. Starting a new job is the last thing I would have wanted to do when...
