Re: To bidet or not to bidet. That is the question, lol.

I *LOVE* mine and am not even remotely concerned after reading this. I've had mine at least six years. I think the key word is "excessive". A quick spritz after I do my business isn't that. It's so much cleaner / hygenic and it's a godsend during colonoscopy prep. If you smeared mud on you...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Anyway, July was 14 years post surgery so a pretty good run so far. For those that don’t know, I believe Horizon was also 3C and began posting here within a few months of when I did back in 2010 or 2011. I'm so pitiful I don't even remember my exact staging! It was stage 3 with lymph node involveme...

Re: Can't believe how scary this whole thing is

For encouragement, I will say was diagnosed stage 3b 14 years ago and have not had a recurrence so there is certainly hope for you too, even though the routine follow-up checks can be high-stress days. A significant part of all this can be managing fear & apprehension, which I understand can be...

Re: Port decision

I ready to have enough energy to get back in my weight room and hopefully get back to lifting as heavy as I did prior to all this. I was like you and thought the port was coming right out after chemo was done. I did a "say what" face when I learned that wasn't going to be happening. I did...

Re: newly diagnosed

Hi, I am new in the cancer club. My husband was diagnoised with stage IIIB colon cancer in June 2024. He will start his four rounds of Kapox chemo for 3 months from September. I am very worried and wondered if many patients like him can be cancer free. I am very worried about our future. any advice...

I did too. It would freak me out sometimes seeing the tube bend in the mirror when I was doing things such as pullups, but never had any issues.

It was very scary and for months I believed I was going to die. Obviously, I was wrong.

Can't imagine how scary that was. I told mine not to give me statistics because I knew I would obsess over them!

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

it seems a lot of people had reoccurrences :( I know I'm responding to an old post, but you have to keep in mind is that many people who *didn't* have one move on and aren't necessarily posting here. Getting caught up in statistics or correlations can cause you a lot of heartache. Believe me I know.

Re: Paranoid

My mind was all over the place when I was where you're at. Just try to focus on getting through it. One thing to watch out for might be protein supplements. I was really into lifting for a few years before I got diagnosed and went back to drinking two protein shakes a day after surgery when I starte...

Re: I'm having obsessive thoughts as to why?

You don't know how much this hits home. I was in the best shape of my life when it hit me. I have zero of the risk factors, never been overweight, zero family history, barely ate red meat, etc. I internalized a lot of "why me?" anger at the beginning. My friends and family that had horrifi...

Re: Is it ok to lift weights with a chest port?

I lifted weights during chemo and the only thing my oncologist said was that he'd prefer that I went when the place was less crowded. I still remember how weird it looked when I saw the tube bend when I was doing pullups. I think the advice to give it some time to heal after it being insert...
