Re: Rising CEA, suspicous scan, crazy nervous - thoughts ple

Well...in all of my years of meeting cancer patients and survivors...here and at my local support group, I have never heard of anyone who had a recurrence in the same spot as the original tumour! To my knowledge, the common spots for a recurrece are initially liver, lungs and/or peritoneum....follow...

Long term effects - anyone???

Hi,
I am looking for any papers or other info on the long term effects of Folfox and/or 5FU. I seem to recall reading an article about possible heart problems...but of course I don't remember where or when I read that! (chemobrain! )

I'd appreciate any info on this....thanks!!!

Re: Can primary progress while liver/lungs tumors are shrink

Good point about adhesions and scar tissue. I have that....and it causes my BM's to be all over the map..... Sometimes they're normal, othertimes they are thin, noodle-like...and sometimes I'm downright constipated with little rabbit poops. Welcome to the ''new normal". Mention this to t...

Re: Anti cancer diet?

I didn't mean to imply that drinking alcohol is ok during treatment. I pretty much abstained while on treatment because wine tasted metallic and nasty anyways....plus I didn't wish to add an extra stress to my aleady hardworking liver! :? Once treatment finished, I threw myself into eating super hea...

Re: Pink Ribbon Inc.

Well I saw it yesterday. I encourage all of you to see this 1.5 hr documentary, it's quite telling. Some points made from this movie: 1) millions of $$ are raised for research. out of this money, very little goes towards finding out the CAUSES of this disease, and prevention (how can you find a cure...

Re: Liver question

Also don't discount costochondritis...especially if you had a chest cold. I've never even heard of this and it was someone on this board who brought my attention to this condition. It turned out I actually got it once last year after a particularly gruelling cold and laryngitis virus I had. http://e...

Re: Standard CHECK up protocol for CRC post adjuvant chemo

It was my understanding that chemo should begin within 2 months of curative surgery to remove the cancer for it to be considered effective. If I'm reading correctly, you're getting only one chemo drug and are 7 months post dx. Am I missing something? That's what I am wondering too! I had CT scans a...

Re: Anti cancer diet?

Well IMHO, not all of us had lousy diets when we got cancer. If diet alone was a cure-all we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Human beings have evolved to be omnivores and I think that the more variety of foods you eat the better your chances of getting the important nutrients your...

Re: Xeloda recommendations please

Nausea should NOT be a huge problem....but I was prescribed stemitil on an as needed basis just in case. I think I took it less than half a dozen times during my 5 months or so while on Xeloda. I was lucky in that I never developed the raw peeling hands or feet. However, my hands and feet did hurt.....
