Re: Sigmoid + Distant Lymph Nodes

I am glad to hear that the Lonsurf + Avastin worked! While there is clinical data suggesting it's effectiveness, it's often hard to find real life examples (on the forum, facebook pages, etc.) of people having success with it.

Re: Lonsurf Experiences

Hi. My husband has finished four cycles of Lonsurf chemo. Tomorrow morning (yes, on a Sunday morning!) he is getting his first CAT scan since starting Lonsurf in January. I’m nervous. His CEA level is higher than it was back in December, but it may be due to a different infection that he currently ...

Pet/Ct Pleural Effusion

Well the results Pet/CT results are in for my mom. PET/CT results for my mom came in. Showed some "mild disease progression" in the liver as she already spots in the liver. No progression seen in any other areas of the body. Newly appearing small bilateral pleural effusions are present. Mo...

Re: Stage 4 Rectal Future Treatment Plan/Options

My initial take is that you are at a real point of inflection here. Your mother has responded well to FOLFOX, but metastases in the liver (2) and lung (1) remain. That puts you in a grey area—some surgeons will treat such disease as “oligometastatic,” basically, limited, potentially treatable/curab...

Re: Shortness of Breath/Chest X-Ray

Sorry for the lack of responses. It seems that the shortness of breath was likely do to either dehydration or very low potassium levels. She received hydration and a infusion of potassium. Since then she has been taking daily potassium pills to keep her levels normal. Since then she has had no short...

Re: Old topic sorry. Advice for living w/ ileostomy?

Hello, My mom had an ileostomy placed almost 1.5 years ago due to rectal cancer. She hated it at first but has really gotten used to it. Some tips: -Ask questions to the Wound Care/Ostomy Nurses. They are the best and really know a lot and can answer a lot of your questions. Much more helpful than ...
