Re: Lonsurf Experiences

May I ask why Avastin was not part of the treatment plan ? My moms situation at the moment is waiting for a Guardant test to check for mutations and then proceed with possibly rechallenging Folfox + Vectibix or Lonsurf + Avastin. CEA has also been a good indicator for her as well

Re: Folfox Liver Enzymes

Thank you ! Yes, obviously I'd rather not stress but as a caretaker, there's always a bit of anxiety due to the unknown.

Folfox Liver Enzymes

So my mom rechallenged Folfox - Avastin and just finished round 3. The first time she had done Folfox she was on a reduced dosage due to age (79) but this time her Onc said she can use the full dosage since she's able to handle the chemo fairly well. Few questions in regards to the Folfox affecting ...

Re: Recent Cancer Diagnosis

Zephyr, my Mom was also diagnosed Stage 4 about 2 years ago and yes, its been a roller coaster ride to say the very least. Are you betting treated in states and if so , where? We are at City of Hope and I was just thinking if you are at the same center perhaps I can pm you on which doctors you've ha...

Re: CEA Flare Up

Can testing positive for Covid also cause a rise in CEA?

CEA Flare Up

Hi Everyone, Question in regards to CEA "Flare". Is it common for CEA to spike on Folfox + Avastin? Mom's CEA was 7.5 last month and after 2 infusions of Folfox her CEA is now 17. Her ALT / AST / ALK also went up really high ( first time ever in 2 years) but ALT + AST are back to normal. A...

Re: Overworried ?

Quick Update- My mom saw her oncologist yesterday along with getting her CT scan. We found out a few things: 1. Ablation area has healed nicely which is amazing! 2. The remaining tumor actually shrunk from 1.9CM to 1.5CM . (Great) 3. Unfortunately, a new tumor may have appeared. around 1.2 CM. (boo)...

Re: Overworried ?

A quick update! My mom had the tumor ablated last week and she was in and out of the hospital the same day. The oncologist had mentioned that the tumor had actually grown from the original scans back in March from 1.7cm to about 3.5cm. At first I was surprised since everything I read online mentione...

Re: Overworried ?

So we finally met with the radiation oncologist who specializes in SBRT but after looking at the scan he think mom may be eligible for Radio Frequency Ablation. However the doctor who does this procedure is out on vacation. With that being said, any pros / cons to either method?

Re: Overworried ?

Thanks Zephyr for your feedback! I just reviewed the doctor's summary and he is also recommending SBRT for my mom. He did mention she'll still get chemo and then radiation the following week (2-3 times). Were you on both chemo and then radiation or just radiation alone? Hopefully she'll have little ...

Re: Overworried ?

So... we just got back from the doctor's appointment. The amazing news is 4 out of the 5 tumors in the liver shrank a lot... 20-30 percent. However, 1 went from 11MM to 17 MM. Oncologist is recommending that radiation be used on that specific tumor. He mentioned success rate being fairly high and is...
