Re: Having a panic moment because of stool changes.

Joe, Have you reached out to your care team yet? In the past, I had some issues with floating stool and my doctor said sometimes intestinal gas can get trapped in the stool. This could cause stool to float. As far as worries about spread of CRC to pancreas, I would think if that were the case, you ...

Re: Having a panic moment because of stool changes.

Don't panic until its time to panic. What are your bilirubin levels? When was last time you had labs to show bilirubin? Are you taking rxs such as antibiotics, ect? Put the potato chips down if fried in seed oil. As a last thought I think your pancreas would not be the issue. When I had an inflamed...

Having a panic moment because of stool changes.

My stool is light abnormally light in color and starting to float so now I'm panicked that my cancer has spread to the pancreas. Does anyone here know of other reasons for light colored and floating stool? I'm still on a very minimal diet of cream of wheat, Silk, rice, salmon, white bread, egg salad...

To bidet or not to bidet. That is the question, lol.

I came on the forum this morning to search for handheld bidet recommendations because my butt gets painfully sore at night and my handheld bidets weren't getting me totally clean so I started using my shower wand instead and that worked great BUT when I came on here and searched this is what I found...

Re: Tiredness

I admit I've had the exact same fear for the exact same reason from time to time, but I realize now there are so many other factors potentially involved that I shouldn't worry about that one. Of course, just like everything else for us that's easier said than done, lol.

Re: Colectomy recovery expectations

Hi Jeff - I've had two surgery's now. They weren't identical to what you are having as my tumor was lower so I ended up with a temporary ileostomy however, I can say that recovery from my first surgery took longer than I hoped, but well within the range that one should expect. I was walking about da...

Re: Ileostomy reversal. How long to recover.

Thanks for the updates. My 5 year old ileostoma and I are following this thread with great interest. I hope everything is going well for you. Well I will say the trend now is in the right direction. At last weeks follow up appointment my surgeon prescribed loperamide 4mg every 6 hours. That immedia...

Thanks for the reply B!

I'm happy to report that 24 hours later the Immodium has started working, and I'm down to bathroom visits every couple hours with mostly solid stool. Hooray :) Oh the little things we enjoy, lol.

Re: Ileostomy reversal. How long to recover.

Well I hate to be the Debbie Downer of the party, but as we all know posting here is somewhat of a mental therapy so here goes . . . Had my reversal surgery last Thursday (Jan. 9, 2025). Surgery was fine and during recovery they administered fentanyl so I felt great that day and then it all went dow...

Ileostomy reversal. How long to recover.

First, Happy New Year everyone! I'm aware that every case will be different, but I'm scheduled for reversal surgery in a couple weeks, and I'm just wondering what experiences people here had. In particular, I assume most folks were initially confined to home if so how long did that last or how long ...

Re: 16 Years

Sbl - First congrats on 16 years. So great to hear long term success stories! But, like most folks I do have a personal reason for posting as well :) I'm a relative newbie here. At the moment I have an ileostomy, but I am scheduled for reversal surgery in January. I just read your discussion from 20...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Hi Joe, Thank you for the kind words. That is really sweet of you. I am doing ok. CT scan in September and MRI of brain in October did not show any progression. That was a relief to hear. Again, I am feeling good physically. Mental health is a daily challenge though. I have just resigned myself to ...

Paige,

I wanted to ask you directly as to how you are doing and didn't know where else to pose the question other than a PM so I hope this is okay.

Anyways, how are you doing?

You are truly inspiring here with your positive attitude and comments.

Re: Having trouble keeping my bag from leaking

I was going through the exact same situation. Unfortunately my Ostomy nurse is quite inexperienced and was zero help. The strange part was I had no problem with leaks for the first 3 months and only recently started having trouble. Obviously each situation is different. For me I use Coloplast Solo M...
