Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

So Prof Morris wasn’t able to help; we sent all the stuff they requested (including getting hospitals to rescan unclear operation reports) he did give us a call, however he didn’t appear engaged and basically said there’s nothing they could do. Her CEA before FOLFIRI+Avastin commenced a couple of we...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

Thank you for the sincere replies; rest assured that I follow up any potential lead. The PET from last Friday shows that the new mets in the liver have lit up (up to SUVmax 10.4) along with new additional peritoneal mets (at least 6; upper left quadrant, right iliac fossa, left iliac fossa, etc) - (...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

OK, so this is a bit shit…. We spoke with a liver transplant surgeon on Monday and he confirmed that surgery is not an option. One of the lesions is right against the primary vein draining the liver. Any damage to that vein is not good. There is also a difference of opinion between two radiologists ...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

My understating is that a transplant would be out of the question and that they tend not to give stage IVC cancer patients liver transplants. (to be honest I don't know; just what I was told when I asked) To make things even more exciting; apparently there’s a “difference of opinion” between two rad...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

OK, so her surgeon has stated (last Friday) that he doesn’t think there’s a role for further surgery. We also have an appointment with another surgeon tomorrow morning who’s bio states: “highly specialised surgical skills, developed in such a challenging specialty as liver transplantation, are offer...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

Bit of an update – things are moving quickly We have a referral to see the senior surgeon at liver centre wa, just trying to book an appointment (was told it would be about a week) but it’s a bit late in the day and I think they’ve all gone home. We also got a call this afternoon from her primary on...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

Yep, concur. Now is the time for us to get our elbows out. Everything was looking quite good until last week. To be clear, I’ve no issue with any of the treatments she has received so far. This disease however is a monster and needs to be hit as hard as possible with everything we’ve got. For supple...

Re: Liver mets are back; what’s next….

Thanks stu, some of the stories on this forum are truly inspirational. I’m in the process of arranging an appointment with this lot: https://www.livercentrewa.com.au/ I’ve spoken with her onc’s secretary today and he’s on annual leave till Wednesday; we have scheduled an appointment with him on Wedn...

Liver mets are back; what’s next….

Hey all, my first post but I’ve read the forum for a while and have found it informative and supportive. I’ll try and keep this short. (I’ll use American date formats to try an avoid confusion). My wife was diagnosed 6th Jan 2021 with Stage IV CRC. Initial diagnosis was from a colonoscopy (due to bl...
