Re: Chance of cancer coming back over time

I could be wrong but the way I understood it is if the chance of recurrence is 20% (that number varies depending on the cancer stage and other factors but I am just uni g 20% as an example) and 70 to 80% reoccur in first 2 years after 2 years there is 6% to 4% chance after 2 years.

Re: Looking for hope

Wife had her appointment to go over her chest CT and abdominal CT, oncologist said they both were good NED, so that was a big relief, said blood tests were good. Will get a colonoscopy in a month or so which is 3 years after her last one and then get another scan in 6 months and if that one remains ...

Re: Looking for hope

So latest CEA yesterday was 0.8 which makes the last 4 CEA levels 11/8/21-0.5, 1/24/22 <0.5, 5/6/22-O.6 and 7/15/22now 0.8. CEA was never this high except one time when on treatment when it was 1.1. I am now officially freaking out, I just know in my heart it is back again. She has a CT scan 7/22/22...

Re: Looking for hope

Wife had blood work, looked good, I of course noticed slight increase in CEA but no one is worried. May 2022 CEA 0.6, January 2022 CEA <0.5, November 2021 CEA 0.5, August 2021 <0.5, July 2021 CEA <0.5, June 2021 CEA 0.7.

Next CT scan August 2022. Just trying to stay positive and pray.

Re: Looking for hope

Yes I took it that way, and my wife did too. I must say this is a great place for support. I am in awe of everyone going through this from those currently undergoing treatment to those who have have finished treatment. Sometimes I feel helpless but try to be the best supporter I can be and pray a lot.

Re: Looking for hope

CT scan 2 weeks ago showed NED, met with oncologist last week he was very positive. 6 month scans now. He is very much into stress reduction and how stress leads to health issues. MRI report on Monday 11/14/22 showed extruded disc material non enhancement at L4. Otherwise NED. Appointment with neuro...

Re: Looking for hope

Was in ER today due to severe pain, just did plain X-ray which of course showed nothing which I guess is good. ER doc said he felt it was sciatic nerve issue but referred her to her oncologist as well. Now on Vicodin and steroids and seeing chiropractor. All we can do is wait for the CT scan and pray.

Re: Looking for hope

I hope so, oncologist moved up CT scan from 4 months in future to next month. CEA <0.5 but probably not a good indicator for my wife.
