Re: Liver enzyme spike after adjuvant chemo

The cancer has spread. At least 6 tumors in the liver, the largest being 4.4cm enlargened medistinal lymph nodes. one 3cm tumor in the tumor bed. Once she is stabilized and out of the hospital they will start her on folfiri avastin and run ngs testing. Heartbroken, in shock, but also hopeful and pra...

Re: Liver enzyme spike after adjuvant chemo

Mom was retested. ALP: 513 AST: 163 ALT: 159 Bilirubin: .09 Everything else is normal. No symptoms at all for mom. Im just worried because they are increasing from last week. Still within the X5 of the upper limit/technically a mild elevation but still worried. She is a month out from chemo now. Tak...

Re: Liver enzyme spike after adjuvant chemo

Before chemo and before every chemo cycle her metabolic panel was done. Her starting ASP was 140 and it was between 140-200, now 393 ALT was between 30-50, now 113 ALK was 20-50, now 116 I did read that flu shot can cause a spike in liver enzymes and she had her flu shot last week (the case reports ...

Liver enzyme spike after adjuvant chemo

Has anyone experienced a spike in their live enzymes the first blood test after finishing adjuvant chemo? My mom's ctdna cleared at the halfway point of her adjuvant and we get the results from her ctdna test next week for the draw she had today. But she also had metabolic panel done and her liver e...

Re: Cancer Journey Update

Do you know if your doctor can do a ctDNA test instead? I think medicaid/medicare cover those. It looks for tumor dna in the bloodstream and may actually be more sensitive than a CTC test (looking for cells in the blood stream)

Re: Today’s CT Scan Of Lung Nodules——Panicking,Resigned To Dying?

This lab has a clinical trial for a vaccine to prevent cancer recurrence for gastrointestinal cancers but in some of their mice the vaccine was able to clear lung nodules too. Maybe reach out and explain your situation see if they can help you out? I would also see if your doctor has any recommendat...

Re: Has anyone taken a break from chemo in between their adjuvant chemo?

An update: my mom's ctdna cleared at the halfway point which is good (especially since her starting ctDNA was really high at 30.61 mtm/ml which is very much on the higher end post surgery). However she is going to finish the 6 months of adjuvant which I fully support. Still nowhere out of the clear ...

Re: Stage 4 Rectal Cancer 45yo Wonderful Woman

After this round if things are stable/no shrinkage (praying not the case), ask if they can ablate that tumor or their thoughts on radio-intervention on that tumor.

Please don't apologize. Far from the top of the list of things we need to worry about.

Re: ctDNA results

MTM/ml is not cells. It's tumor DNA. From patient perspective it seems the same (at least for me at the beginning when I learned about it) but CTC = circulating tumor cells. You can have positive ctDNA but negative CTC.

I don't know about your specific questions but do you think a ctDNA test might be helpful or is something worth bringing up to your doctor?

Re: Has anyone taken a break from chemo in between their adjuvant chemo?

My wife had to switch to Folfiri during Infusion 5 due to a reaction to Oxaliplatin. She gets a bag of IV fluids from time to time at pump disconnect. The infusion office told her to come in for fluids even during the off chemo week if she felt dehydrated. Yeah they set it up now so my mom gets hyd...

Re: Stage 3, likelihood of recurrence after resection & chemotherapy

I was also staged at 3c and I interpreted what I read online to mean that only 25% of 3c patients were even alive in 5 years. Either way, I like 60% much better. This always perplexed me. US Seer data and whatnot show Stage IIIc survival around 28% but Canada, for example, shows a survival rate of ...

Re: Has anyone taken a break from chemo in between their adjuvant chemo?

Thank you all so much for your input. After her 5th cycle she spent that weekend in the hospital due to intense nausea, issues eating, high pule rate (117) and high blood pressure (169/90). She was severly dehydrated and her nausea was intense. Her x rays were clear/no obstruction noticed. They were...
