Happy holidays

I haven’t been in the forum for a while, because life happens and the thought of cancer stops being an all-consuming thread in your head. I had my scans last week and all results are good and in the comfort of the results, I find myself falling into old habits of sweating the small stuff, the small ...

What were you most afraid of about your diagnosis?

My friend asked me what I was most afraid of when I heard about my diagnosis? At the time, we didn’t know the stage, we didn’t know if it was colon or ovarian…all they said was that it was massive. And cancer for sure. Besides the fear of pain (I have low tolerance, but that didn’t even cross my min...

Re: Update from Riki's Wife

Oh, Ruth, I am so so sorry. I just watched the video and it was so great to see his face and his family! His posts helped many through our own journeys, and I could see his love for you whenever he mentioned “my lovely wife”. I gave away all my supplies to my hospital (after reversal), when I went t...

Happy holidays to all

I have been checking in often but not posting much. I often try to reply to questions, but there are so many more knowledgeable people here that my answers wouldn’t add to much. Know that I pray and root for you all, and feel immense gratitude to this forum, for all the support and words of encourag...

Re: When it rains...

So sorry, Claudine. I was here logging in thinking he would be getting better from the reversal and now this…But it’s good that he was able to receive the surgery so quickly and seems that you have plan in place. Much love, Sunny

Re: Bidet recommendation?

I hope your hubby is getting better….and it will! Every day should be better than the last, and it seems your hubby is a trooper. Helps that you are always so supportive. On another note, does he have those diaper rash ointments? It might alleviate the rawness.

Re: Bidet recommendation?

Oh, then get the squirt bottle! It comes so handy in the hospital…you def don’t want to use the very rough toilet paper from the hospital when things start moving. I also bought adult diapers for peace of mind, though, thankfully, I didn’t need it (but again, it made me sleep better knowing I had pr...

Re: Bidet recommendation?

Claudine, how’s your husband? It’s been about 2 days since reversal, so I was wondering…I may be too late for the bidet discussion, but you might also consider a portable bidet, like those cheap plastic squish bottles you get for $10 on Amazon on days when he’s out and about. In fact, I bought a fan...

Re: Thinking of Hospice Care

I haven’t been here as often but I still log in to check and hoping for good news from so many that I feel I’ve gotten to know in the last 1 1/2 year. And Riki, you are one of them. I have been an avid reader of your posts, specially as I was managing my colostomy and reversal. There is not a lot of...

Re: Children Monitoring

I have been wondering about when my kids, who are 18 and 20 y.o., should start having colonoscopies. There was no history of colon cancer in my family, and testing showed it wasn’t genetic. I read in this forum that it would be a good idea for them to get a life insurance prior to getting colonoscop...

Re: Tough decision - your input welcome!

Claudine, I had a hard time with my colostomy (leakage, skin issues, etc), and I do remember that in the first few weeks I had to adjust my diet. When I read he wanted to eat tacos, even without beans, I was like “uh-oh”. I went back to the ER room with a blockage within 2 weeks post surgery, and th...
