Re: No “definite” evidence of metabolically active disease

Actually had first scope post op in late April which was clean (so next one in 12m). However, I am unsure whether a colonoscopy would actually be able to view this thickening as from what I understand it is in right iliac fossa region near to anastomosis site as opposed to within the colon itself if...

Re: No “definite” evidence of metabolically active disease

Thanks for your reply, Rob. Yes, similar to my reading but then if there was anything potentially ambiguous or uncertain I was anticipating it would have been mentioned in the main body of the report, e.g. ‘slightly elevated tracer uptake at xxxx’ etc. Hence why I was thinking the additional word ‘d...

No “definite” evidence of metabolically active disease

Hi, Regarding the interpretation/summary section of a PETCT scan report, is there a difference between No Evidence of Disease and No ‘Definite’ Evidence of Disease? Am guessing it’s just an alternative way of the report writer confirming NED - as opposed to being because there are some question mark...

Re: CEA rise during chemo for stage III

Latest result now in at 2.6 so nice decline from the Feb 4.6 figure and so previous upwards trend looks likely to have been chemo related I guess.

Re: CEA rise during chemo for stage III

Thanks all for the insights.

NHMike - interesting view fe the workouts. I was doing a heavy exercise schedule all through chemo of running twice a day c100miles per week but something my body is very used to so not sure to what extent that might have contributed.

CEA rise during chemo for stage III

Hi, Most of the research I’ve seen into the reason for a rise in CEA levels during chemo is for metastatic colon cancer with the explanation provided for this ‘chemo flare’ being put down to secretion of CEA from dying cancer cells. Not seen much research though into a rise in stage III patients whe...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

Thanks both. Yes the potential inability of even a PET-CT to identify tiny liver lesions - and that these few spots on my liver have remained unchanged - was one of the factors we discussed when deciding on the imaging strategy. I guess in theory they could have grown from the pre-surgery scan until...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

My CT recent scan during final CAPOX cycle in Feb showed NED with the v small liver spots unchanged (this radiologist - rather than classifying them as cysts or fatty deposition - stated that differential diagnosis of these spots included cysts and hemangiomas). However, my most recent CEA has climb...

Re: How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

Thanks for all the detailed replies. Turns out I have the BRAF V600E mutation so rather than waiting till post chemo (just started cycle 4 Capox) then my oncologist has scheduled a CT with contrast for tomorrow. If anything concerning re small spots in the liver then will have MRI to follow. My CEA ...

How easy is it to differentiate between benign liver spots and small mets on a CT scan?

Hi, Currently undergoing 3m of CAPOX for stage IIIb ascending colon cancer following successful right sided hemicolectomy in October. Just revisiting my (second) CT scan at diagnosis and for the lungs there were “no significant pulmonary nodules” whereas for the liver there were “sub centimetre simp...
