Re: Can someone help please.

I hope the oncologist explained that they were quoting from overall (and somewhat dated) survival statistics averaged across all Stage IV cases, and not making a prediction as to your case. Finding it when the mets are small is helpful. His age is helpful. Just make sure you get the right tests (as ...

Re: Innumerable liver mets - NED?

I started with FOLFOXIRI, had radioembolization on the right lobe of my liver, and chemoembolization (x2) on the left. Did FOLFIRI for a while, and now have been on Xeloda for 2-3 years, with a couple of long breaks each year.

Re: Exercise (golf) with a power port

No, it shouldn't be an issue. I go running every day and never had problems. The problem that worries me is the power port itself. Read in this article that there are a lot of lawsuits filed against it because they're likely to break or cause harm to victims. That's what is scary. I can't imagine t...

Re: Should I seek another opinion?

No. I don't think you need to do anything right now. You have a very low-risk profile and your doctors agree that nothing out of the ordinary is needed right now. I agree with this. However, there's not much downside to getting a 2nd opinion, so if you feel it would help then go for it. They get pa...

Re: Scars vs local recurrence

Did you have symptoms with your original diagnosis? Something on blood tests? Are those things repeating themselves? In my experience every time I've had three or four things pointing one way, and one thing pointing the other way, the side with the greater evidence has always been right.

Exercise (golf) with a power port

Approaching 4 years since I got my port (right-sided power port), and I want to start playing golf again. Does anyone have any experience/advice with this?

Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Update: My October Ct scan showed a 2nd, much larger lung nodule (2.5 cm x 1.3 cm), but the original was measured at half the size (from 1cm to 5mm). We followed up with a PET a few weeks later and the smaller one is gone and the larger one is breaking up and they believe it to be "resolving no...

Re: What is your typical CT scan experience?

Typically one pass after the contrast, but there have been pauses in some when they take additional images. Never with more contrast though.

Re: Need advice for next steps

I would investigate cryoablation immediately. I agree. Has anyone beside your onc reviewed the scans? I'd call the interventional radiologist and request them to do so, if your onc hasn't already done that. Also interested if you have any insight as to why the onc thinks PETs aren't useful on <1cm ...

Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Ok. I’m going to step lightly here because I understand getting worrisome language after scans and shifting into fatalistic mode. After one scan in late 2020, the results came back with an 80% probability of an anomaly picked up on imaging in my perineum being metastatic spread from my rectal prima...

Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Hi all - In April I developed a lung infection (productive cough turned into dry cough) which really knocked me for a loop. Shortly after that, we had my standard 3-month scans. The PET scan showed in my lung "Subtle increased metabolic activity over the right upper lobe as well as nodularity ...
