Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Update: My October Ct scan showed a 2nd, much larger lung nodule (2.5 cm x 1.3 cm), but the original was measured at half the size (from 1cm to 5mm). We followed up with a PET a few weeks later and the smaller one is gone and the larger one is breaking up and they believe it to be "resolving no...

Re: What is your typical CT scan experience?

Typically one pass after the contrast, but there have been pauses in some when they take additional images. Never with more contrast though.

Re: Need advice for next steps

I would investigate cryoablation immediately. I agree. Has anyone beside your onc reviewed the scans? I'd call the interventional radiologist and request them to do so, if your onc hasn't already done that. Also interested if you have any insight as to why the onc thinks PETs aren't useful on <1cm ...

Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Ok. I’m going to step lightly here because I understand getting worrisome language after scans and shifting into fatalistic mode. After one scan in late 2020, the results came back with an 80% probability of an anomaly picked up on imaging in my perineum being metastatic spread from my rectal prima...

Re: PET scan - Lung nodule question

Hi all - In April I developed a lung infection (productive cough turned into dry cough) which really knocked me for a loop. Shortly after that, we had my standard 3-month scans. The PET scan showed in my lung "Subtle increased metabolic activity over the right upper lobe as well as nodularity ...

Re: Question on Irinotecan, 5FU, and Avastin experience

Hi Bob - As far as tolerance goes, I had to be careful with the Avastin, developing several superficial blood clots. So something to be aware of. Otherwise it was pretty standard, a few rough days, then a good week, and then it was time to start again. I worked full time while on that regimen, so ob...

Re: Tumor calcification?

I also began with a pretty heavy burden in my liver, and after lots of treatment my liver guy finds that MRIs are easier for him to interpret. We do a chest/abdomen CT and a liver MRI. It may be worth asking if there are other imaging techniques that could give them a better idea what is happening.

Re: Rise in CEA during chemo. Cause for concern?

Not much help as my CEA has never been that high, but mine does jump around quite a bit, just at lower numbers. It's a challenge to read any blood test and not find cause for alarm - I think we're just trained to think that way after the trauma of diagnosis. More important than one test is a trend -...

Re: Fairly new to this and needing advice

Hi Sara - sounds like comprehensive care is in order. I would talk to a liver surgeon, and an interventional radiologist at minimum. The standard of care you should expect would be a team approach (and maybe that's already happening behind the scene). Ask if your cancer center has a tumor board, and...

Re: Infection and markers

Not much to offer, but my liver enzymes do rise when I'm sick and/or dehydrated. My CEA has always bounced all over the place, so difficult to identify any correlation with sickness. I guess a lot would depend on the scale of the rise. I can see a 50% increase or decrease in CEAs taken a week apart ...

Re: Peripheral Neuropathy and Compression Socks

I went to a specialist for compression socks, and they cost something like $200. Then I bought several pairs at Sockwell and they worked just as well. My neuropathy certainly hasn't resolved, but the socks do seem to offer some benefit.
