and I'm still here too

... because I didn't post for a few years, I thought I would drop a line (as plastikos recently did) to say "I'm still here" too. I always wonder/worry when people in groups like this just disappear. It's all to easy to think they are gone for good. Well, I'm still here. When last I posted...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

Thanks all for the great suggestions, but it turns out Xeloda is no longer the treatment plan. My CEA is still climbing so Xeloda is out, and FOLFIRI+Avastin is the regiment henceforth. This will be much like the FOLFOX I did before so I pretty much know the trials and tribulations with this cocktai...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

Sorry to hear this and that tech had no business saying anything. That is frustrating. Hopefully your onc puts you on Folfiri and it knocks it back. Keep on moving forward. -Brenda Ehh, at least I’ve learned to not trust such sources so I never took it seriously. Got my CEA number back too, more ba...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

I had my CT Scan today and the tech kinda screwed up by actually commenting on it to me a bit. Surprisingly she said I only had a cyst on my liver and not a cancer tumor... hummmmmm. But, until I hear that from the official reviewing doctor I'm going to assume she was wrong and there is still a tum...

Are you taking it every 12 hours? I.e. does this mean your morning dosage is really early in the morning?

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

Thanks RP , I will be reviewing all my supplements for Folic Acid sources. My diet is mostly meat and cheese (Keto/Carnivore) from grass fed happy (till the end) cows so any Folic Acid from there would at least be all natural. Chronomodulation is an interesting topic, I've sent a message to my oncol...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

Question 1: how critical is food with Xeloda and how much food is really needed? Question 2: What's with the "don't exercise after taking" instructions... and is 30 min enough time after taking to address this? Additional Question 3: Has anyone seen an increase in their Nueropathy with Xe...

Re: Xeloda med concerns and timing

I’ve never heard the no-exercise thing before though. What’s the source for this one?

The pharmacist. She said to give it 30 mins before exercising. Since I have a 30 min drive, that seems to work out.

Xeloda med concerns and timing

Hi all, TLDR; Question 1: how critical is food with Xeloda and how much food is really needed? Question 2: What's with the "don't exercise after taking" instructions... and is 30 min enough time after taking to address this? Long Version; It's been 6 months since I was last here. Ended my ...

Yep, that's exactly what it is... cut off the Oxaliplatin after round 9, finished [last] round 12 3 weeks ago and now get to see if the neuropathy magically goes away or not. Time will tell.

Re: 1st Chemo; Day 2

oops, you're right Liver, not Kidney.

This is something I will definitely bring up when I visit UCSF.
Perhaps they will have different advice to give on the topic.

Re: 1st Chemo; Day 2

That was not an option presented to my by my Dr. Basically he says I will always have Cancer and that I'll be doing Chemo for the rest of my life. But, he is referring me to UCSF which is the major 'cancer trials' hospital in N. California (where I live) so that I'm in their system when they are loo...

Re: 1st Chemo; Day 2

So it's been a while since I posted here, just thought I'd give an update: Have completed 12 rounds of Chemo, my CEA is now down to 8 (started at 1300+); the lung tumors are just gone!; the Kidney tumor (my largest) is down to less than 5% of it's initial size; same with the colon tumor. So at this ...

Re: 1st Chemo; Day 2

Just an update: Well it's long past my 1st Chemo days... Am now just finished round 8. My CEA has gone from 1000+ to 33 and my tumors were reduced by 40% after round 4. So it seems to be working. Am also doing Mistletoe Therapy along with a strict Keto diet and Testosterone Therapy. All combined, I ...
