Re: Rising CEA while on palliative therapy for oligometastatic colorectal cancer

skb, I would think that ablation would be available at any of NCI designated cancer centers. I would definitely consider getting a 2nd medical opinion. I am a little surprised that you weren't given the option to retry FOLFIRI or FOLFOX and/or try another medication such as Lonsurf or regorafenib. P...

Re: Rising CEA while on palliative therapy for oligometastatic colorectal cancer

Hi,

I agree with the other posts here. In addition, have you considered ablation of the lung nodules? What course of action is your oncologist recommending?

Good luck to you and keep us posted,

Paige

roadrunner,

It's good to hear that you are doing well after your surgery. I am glad that the adjustment to the colostomy seems to have been a smooth transition for you.

Best wishes,

Re: Stage IV multiple metastatic sites

Hi, I know everything must seem overwhelming right now. I agree with the other posts that it is not a good idea to compare yourself to others. Please understand that even with Stage IV cancer, you can live a long time. There are new treatments being developed every day. The best advice that I can gi...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Stu, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. That is very sad. I am sure that you have many wonderful memories of her. Like Javi, I, too, am curious how your mother was able to keep her lung mets stable for so many years. Any information that you feel comfortable sharing would be rea...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Claudine, I am really glad to hear that your husband's disease is stable. I am sorry to hear about his mobility limitations. That's tough! Yes, life really does move on whether we are ready for it or not. As a group, I guess all of us need to embrace the things we can do today and learn to let go of...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Hi, Just wanted to give an update. I finished rehab earlier this summer. Luckily, I regained mobility fairly quickly. It was a somewhat smooth transition from wheelchair to walker to walking independently. Completed 3 Gamma-Knife treatments to the brain in June. I met with my oncologist mid-July and...

Re: Really Bad Gas and Diarrhea

Walking a lot can help with the trapped gas. If you don't want to venture too far from home because of the diarrhea, try walking around your house. Perhaps ask your doctor what he/she recommends.

Good luck!

Re: It's baack!

Wow, this is really tough news. I agree with the previous comments about chemo. FOLFIRI might be able to shrink your mets enough where you may be a candidate for HIPEC and/or Cytoreductive surgery. A CRC friend of mine that was in a similar situation to yours - mets to liver and peritoneum was able ...

Re: Anyone else struggling to live life normally?

Hi, Every piece of advice given here is really good advice. I just wanted to add that you shouldn't put your life on hold because you are afraid of recurrence and/or dying, etc. Pursue the things in life that you want to do NOW . DON'T WAIT! Are you interested in a certain career path? Go for it. Wa...

Oh my gosh, this is terrible news. She was so kind, brave and smart as a tack. It had been awhile since I had talked to her. We had discussed the possibility of a girls trip when we were done with treatments. My heart goes out to her family. Rest in peace, Sara. I will miss you. ♥♥♥ Your friend, Paige

Re: prayingforccr

To all of you who knew prayingforccr, I just learned that he passed away last Wednesday, August 14, 2024. This makes me really sad. He was incredibly smart and willing to share any information about CRC that he had researched. His online obituary can be seen here https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obit...
