From Idaho or South Dakota - need help for March Awareness!

Many within the CRC community are asking state governors to sign proclamations declaring March 2014 as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in their states. So far, we have requests for this proclamation into all but TWO STATES in the U.S.! If you live (or know someone) in Idaho or South Dakota who'd b...

Re: Near Kansas City? Come Crawl the Colon

You guys are making me blush. Sheesh. Thank you for your kind words. I could never give back to The Colon Club more than it's given to me. Community. Friends. Purpose. It's an amazing thing to go through something as hard as CRC, and especially at my age, and meet a group of people who don't make me...

Opportunity for Stage II and Stage III Colon Survivors

Hey gang, I'll be keeping you updated with opportunities for trials and studies from time to time. Here's one for stage II and stage III colon cancer survivors. There's $40 compensation involved if you qualify. It's not a clinical trial and requires no medical treatment. Just involves taking a surve...

Re: Radiation/chemo affect on Fertility

I too face some of the questions and concerns that you have due to the rectal cancer. Unfortunately when I was diagnosed 8 years ago as a teen, they went straight to moving the ovaries up out of the path of radiation without harvesting any eggs before hand. That's good that you're asking those quest...

Subtotal, K-Pouch or BCIR?

I'm in the process of researching many options of colon removal. When I was originally diagnosed with CRC at 17, I had a resection of my lower colon and about 13 additional inches of colon removed. Eight years later I'm having adenomatous polyps crawl their way back into my colon and concerning my p...

Re: Adenomatous Colon Polyps Question

I am dealing with some of the same questions and concerns that you are, except that I did have a polyp turn into cancer at age 17. We did genetic testing at the time and learned that I did have a genetic mutation, but we didn't really know how that would play out. I wasn't diagnosed with FAP or anyt...

Re: Any patients 17 years old?

Hey Pam, It sounds like you've gotten some great advice so far. I thought I'd ring in as the 17-year-old vet of the disease. It's good that you scheduled him for a full colonoscopy. I had seen blood for years, and the color went from occasional bright red to dark red over time. I don't recall fillin...

Re: Crazy idea to help your cause

Hey dinosaur, it's awesome that you hopped on here and got involved in the Colon Club! It's cool that you saw my article in the paper. I think some other people answered your question already and said that the awareness month is March for colorectal cancer. Hopefully you can get in touch with Molly,...
