Re: Lung nodules and genetic testing

How do you know that these micronodules were not present on the first scan? Depending on the CT process used, the review protocol, and inter-observer variation, such nodules will be reported on one scan but not on another, even if present throughout. This variation increases the smaller nodules get....

Re: fecal control and odor

Survivor 12: First, congrats on being able to say “rectal cancer many years ago.” That in itself is a huge win. Your current troubles do sound challenging, however. I think folks would need more information to provide helpful responses. Some things that seem relevant to me: (1) what specifically is ...

Re: Lung nodules and genetic testing

You did not read the study you linked (suggesting only 25% of pulmonary nodules are benign) with care or skill. The criteria for inclusion (lung operation) included “controlled or controllable extra pulmonary metastatic disease.” These were STAGE 4 PATIENTS. You are not. The study is not relevant to...

Re: CEA questions

You haven’t provided enough information here. You say “the cancer was gone.” But how was that determined? It is not possible, by the way, to *know* a rectal tumor has been eliminated without resection and pathological analysis, though radiological evidence and the judgment of an expert surgeon can b...

Perhaps she and her she and her partner understand the risks and likely scenarios, and have prepared for them (financially and personally).

Re: Need advice for next steps

You included in your new post what looks like material new information. You say you have two mets in your right lung (seemingly RUL and RLL) that “are stable and might begin growing again.” I have to assume this is a mistake, because if these are known metastases, I believe the treatment plans you’r...

Re: osteoarthrosis - platelet rich plasma and stem cell implant for oncologic patients?

One thing worth considering, in case you’re not aware. I’m wildly under-qualified to judge the importance of this factoid in this context, but platelets are believed to have a central role in facilitating metastasis. Your signature suggests that your may have confidence that a recurrence is very unl...

Re: Lung met

You haven’t provided enough information. A “ground glass opacity” or “GGO” is a radiological finding—basically just a semi-transparent area in the lung through which structures can be visualized. It is commonly malignant in lung cancer. I’m not familiar with CRC metastases presenting as GGOs, but I ...

Re: Lung nodules and genetic testing

Pagola44: You got good responses from great posters here, but in my view the picture being painted is unduly negative. Background facts are vital: First, when you get a radiological finding like this you need to understand the context: Yes, benign pulmonary nodules are very common, even arguably ubi...

Re: Lung met

Alright, I understand now. This is very unfortunate. It certainly sounds as though her doctors are operating with very outdated ideas and models. There are many, many people on this forum who are long-term survivors of pulmonary metastases. The fact that your friend also had a liver met complicates ...

Re: New Member - Looking for Some Reassurane

Surgery leaves scars. It would be surprising if you did not have some residual change in sensation at the surgical site. I have had many surgeries, and each has left such symptoms behind. Here, you have reported zero factors indicating persistent disease in a background context of low risk. Unless y...

Re: Pet scan

Should’ve added: I have seen other stories of long-term survival with CRC bone metastases. And that’s not just about “quality time”— therapeutic technology is moving very fast at present, faster than pharmaceutical development (though even there developments appear to be accelerating, and may well d...
