Re: What is your typical CT scan experience?

I’ve had many, many scans, with good results and bad. As you judged, this experience does not sound typical. I’ve not had that happen, at least. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it was a bad scan, of course. They may have wanted to look more closely at something that turned out to be benign, for e...

Re: Lung recurrence update- good news

Ok, that’s helpful. I just did four cycles of FOLFIRI in April/May, so I know how tough it can be. I lost a lot of hair just in 4. It was tolerable otherwise for me, though. But I just did 4. For your Mayo appt., I would definitely ask about your original oncologist’s view that resection and or abla...

Re: Lung recurrence update- good news

The challenge here is that PET sensitivity for pulmonary nodules <1cm is not ideal. I’ve seen a 27% fail rate in one study. Most of yours are very small, and I suppose that the fail rate would be higher as the size decreases. Though I haven’t read that, it’s just speculation. Your scan history matte...

Re: A very hard time

Beach: I’m sorry to hear about those things. It seems particularly unfair when tragedies befall us cancer patients—it’s not like we don’t have enough to deal with already. And the loss of a child is unfathomable. All I can do is wish you peace and strength, and a path through.

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Absolutely! I’m NED at the moment but that might not last long. If there’s anything you can point me towards, I’d definitely be interested. Best to be prepared. Another thing I should have said before: I think the 12-13 month PFS FOLFIRI figure was the median. Also, if you’re concerned about progres...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Ah, missed that, thanks. I will say this: That’s an aggressive chemo approach for pulmonary nodules. As I understand it, it’s just theoretical that FOLFIRI can clear micrometastases. It is generally reported to have a roughly 1-yr. increase in PFS in that context—and it reduced my nodule/mass somewh...

Re: STAGE IV RC GUYS AND GALS

Paige: Thank you for this post. Your strong attitude and clear-eyed perspective are bracing and helpful for all of us, I believe. I did the FOLFIRI thing last spring, and I can report that while my hair got quite thin, went bone-white, and then got all matted together (had to get a chemo haircut), i...

Re: Beginning TIL Therapy at NIH Next Week

I understand. And this is probably obvious, but if you’re thinking about ablation as a possible “Plan B,” def keep a close eye on size. RFA limit is around 3 cm I believe. I’m less sure of cryoablation, but perhaps that’s a good benchmark there too? Of course, location matters. SBRT is also an optio...

Re: Beginning TIL Therapy at NIH Next Week

This situation seems pretty complex, and given your prior success with the TIL approach, that certainly seems to be your best option, at least from a distance. It sounds like you have 3 growing lesions (including the 2.2cm nodule), and 4 that are “stable or shrinking.” If that’s right, there may wel...

Re: Beginning TIL Therapy at NIH Next Week

Does this change their approach at all? Is there a surgical
option for the 2.2cm nodule?

Re: Trial update - ATRIUM (ATG-018)

Sorry to hear this news, Rob. I was somehow barred from posting for a bit, so couldn’t respond initially. As usual, you seem to have an optimal focus and attitude. I wish you success with the next approach you choose.
