When did you get your vaccine? CEA will pick up any inflammation in the body.

Hi! Others have already given excellent advice but I will just chime in and say I have learned from others on this site when I was new here that the size doesn’t necessarily correlate with the stage. Try to familiarize yourself with the staging system of colon cancer (TNM) https://www.cancer.org/can...

Re: CEA is a yo-yo

Another hater of CEA!

My mom’s last one was her highest yet...until I learned that because we went to a different lab they used a different scale and so it was an apples/oranges kind of thing. Anxious for her next one next month at her normal lab.

Could that be the case with you?

Re: Advice about resection and reconnection

I will just add another anecdote for your consideration—my mom’s tumor was fairly low and she had a temporary bag and dealing with the bag was the worst part of it all for her. She couldn’t count the days fast enough until reversal. Similar to others’ comments, the first weeks after reversal were “u...

Re: Terrified of rising trend (another CEA post)

Thank you Gina <3 I did a search on here for Roche and found a bunch of posts about people seeing a rise/above normal number when switching to Roche. I am praying that’s all this is. My mom doesn’t seem concerned in the slightest now that she knows the methodology/scale were different. I’m still kin...

Terrified of rising trend (another CEA post)

Hi guys. My mom just got her results from her 3 month CEA and it’s 3.4. We’ve gone from 2.4 to 3.0 to 3.4 in the last three tests—I am really nervous about this. It seems to be a rising trend and it’s now over the upper limit of normal. The nurse told my mom on the phone that the doctor labeled it “...
