Re: Mop up chemo experiences

So it nearly four years since mt diagnosis. I saw oncologist yesterday, all good with labs, CT scan clean and get a year from from a colonoscopy. Cause to celebrate. I am starting to run with my husband, life has been good. A few foods a wish I could still enjoy but overall no complaints. Still chal...

Hi Mike,
It has been almost a year since I last posted. Can’t believe it’s been four years on this journey. You were just a little ahead of me at each step so I read your words as a guide.
Just checking in, wishing you well. Wondering what’s next?

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Hi Mike, I continue to be a little more clumsy, less dexterity than before chemo but it subtle so is it older age or neuropathy, so I am not on computer much except to do work. Teleheath and virtual classroom are hard on eyes as well so the blogs that used to support me are a drain on my eye and han...

Re: New here, diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer and have a few questions

Kev, This forum was a gift and a tool I used to get through my diagnosis and treatment. I started treatment, chemo within three weeks of exercise, radiation two weeks later. The tumor was greatly reduced by time I had surgery, about 6 months later. I also had rectal cancer and surgeon was able to sa...

Re: One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

Thanks Mike. Here in the mountains of California we have been relatively lucky, few cases. As much as I would like to skip it, I think it is important enough to go forward. They have cancelled the routine cases, friends have been rescheduled to August and September.
Take care,

Re: Rectal cancer stage IV

That’s good news. Stay healthy and well in these challenging times. I am schedule for colonoscopy in two weeks, my second since surgery, first since reversal. Take care, Susan Thanks! How are things where you live? Good luck with the colonscopy, I did not get any painkiller or sedation with mine af...

Re: One year anniversary and now delayed surveillance

I am scheduled for my second colonoscopy post treatment. The first was last year just before reversal. The is my first real one. Should I do it or wait? There are only 9 cases in my county, one in county where hospital is located.

Re: What is radiation/chemo treatment actually like?

Take the talk with the nurse seriously. Radiation changes everything down there. If you haven’t gone through menopause you will now. The sitz bath are good, a bidet seat better. Use the creams liberally. I didn’t wear pants, couldn’t wear pants after about half treatments due to soreness. Like you I...

Re: Mop up chemo experiences

CT scan Monday was clean. That’s number two, first since reversal. Most days are okay, every third or fourth day is a total clean out. I can’t figure out which causes it but spend at least 7 or 8 trips to bathroom. Then it’s back to normal again. Bum sure gets sore when away from home for too long. ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Mike Sorry to hear you are still dealing with blockages. I have a routine of just little bits for a day or two and then a clean out. I have found that a lot of tomatoes, which are a bonanza in my garden, are very hard on system. The figs which are ripe now are quite effective at clean outs as is red...
