Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

Hi, I am a wait and watcher who avoided radical surgery when the disease was diagnosed in 2017. I was disease free for two years. In 2019, a solitary metastatic nodule was discovered in my right lung and it was removed with a VATS wedge resection. There was mp chemo afterwards. It is now one year a...

Re: another HAI pump question and a short rant...

My best advice to you is don’t take pump advice from a center that doesn’t embrace them. I am adding this quote to my own "rules for taking doctor's advice ! " don't take oncology advice from a surgeon don't take surgical advice from a radiologist don't take radiology advice from an oncol...

Re: Not tolerating Xeloda. Are there any options?

Just a quick add-on here for you as there IS good feedback already to your question. 1. I had Xeloda by itself twice and had only minor problems 2. I had FOLFOX and had more issues with the Oxaliplatin than with the 5-FU or Xeloda earlier 3. Yes you need to monitor / avoid folic acid additives 4. TI...

Re: Treatment switch

my issues with celebrex were strictly GIT due to interaction with other NSAIDS and loss of protection of the gastrointestinal mucosa, a well known issue with higher dose / longer acting COX-2 inhibitors. As an analgesic I found it was not as effective for me as ibuprofen. FYI here is a very good rev...

Re: Normal time frame for followup colonoscopy.

I had a siggy prior to ileostomy takedown, 6 months after resection and a full c-scope 14 months after primary resection. I had my next c-scope 1 year after that and the next one 3 years later ( was dealing with a lung met so timing was kind of "when and if" ! ) just for your reference ! C...

Re: Random Cough

If the last imaging was in Dec 2019, then it would not be out of the question to consider having follow-up imaging done again. JMO. BTDT many times. low grade "cough" issue could be one of many things, which is why physical exams, imaging and lab work might be a good option. just sayin' &q...

Re: Covid and the non-believers

From one of the references : “The risk for infection is highly dependent on distance to the individual infected and the type of face mask and eye protection worn. ” I should probably not engage in this topic any further as NOBODY actually talks about other mucous membrane susceptibilities LIKE EYES ...
