Re: Can someone help please.

I'm glad you've found a place to ask questions. So that you know, we are not doctors and are not qualified to give medical advice. For the most part, we are patients and caregivers just like you and your husband, but there's a lot of personal experience here. I think if you put us all together, we'v...

Re: Fast decline in respiratory capacity

Not the same but ... a few months ago, I started having some very troublesome breathing issues. I went from easily walking 2-3 miles at a time to barely being able to walk a block without having to stop to catch my breath. On top of that, I started having chest and back pain, and pain in my left arm...

Diet & Dietary Supplements for CRC: webinar 11/20

For those of you interested in diet and dietary supplements in the integrative management of CRC, there is a live Instagram webinar on November 20 from 1:00-2:30 EST. A naturopathic doctor who is board-certified in naturopathic oncology will be presenting. I'm not all that Instagram savvy but I thin...

Re: New here and a tad worried....

This is the kind of info I'm looking for, thank you! Am I understanding your signature? You went from all clear to stage 4 in two years? I'm reading it takes around 10 years for cancer to develop in the colon but it sounds like CC is like everything else. Highly individual? Can you tell me how ofte...

Re: New here and a tad worried....

I agree with what has been written, but I would like to insert the strongest possible recommendation that you continue to be vigilant ... not obsessive, not freaked, but responsibly vigilant. He's likely taking tissue to see if there's any more dysplasia that was missed the first time. You may need ...

Re: Recurrence with normal CEA??

Ditto and agree with what roadrunner wrote. Don't focus on CEA when you make a decision; do the scan. You need to know either way, and CEA is not a useful measure for many people.

The German surgery uses a unique laser procedure developed by a thoracic surgeon at the Coswig hospital and is not available in the USA.

Re: CT Scan today

If you don’t mind me asking, how long between switching between folfiri & xeolda have you had? Not all consultants are too keen on rechallenging, and I haven’t heard of treatments being rechallenge multiple times so I’m really interested. Normally they say at least a year off treatment before r...

Re: CT Scan today

Zephyr: I just wanted to comment on how inspiring your success is. That’s a lot of years, and it sounds like you’ve had at least a reasonable QOL despite all the chemo. I wish you many more good years! Thank you, Roadrunner. Like everyone else, QOL ebbs and flows - and there have been some brutal l...

Re: CT Scan today

zephyr, I was studying your signature. Would you say that your lung nodules have been stable since you started the Folfox/Avastin regimen few years ago? I am being hopeful that it would give me few more years if I am prescribed that regimen. More like stable- ish . I've been bouncing between Folfir...

Re: CT Scan today

Let me start with a disclaimer: I may not know what I'm talking about. That being said, if you decide to go back to Germany, you ~may~ want to consider discussing with Dr. Kern or another surgeon the complications of having multiple thoracotomies. My first two surgeries were in Germany and then I ha...

Allergies can cause hoarseness (even if you've never had hoarseness before). It's happened to me.

Re: Stage IV sigma cancer, CRS and now lung mets

I've read that many people with lung metastases undergo surgery in Germany. Thank you for sharing the hospital and doctor's name. My oncologist advised against nodule removal for now, stating that new ones might appear soon after surgery. He mentioned that I could undergo any lung surgery in Switze...

I'm not at City of Hope. They appear to have locations in California, Arizona, Georgia, and Illinois. Where are you being treated?

Re: Recent Cancer Diagnosis

I'm also Stage 4b but everyone is different so my experience might not be exactly relevant to your situation. With cancer, there are so many variables such as location(s), mutation(s), pre-existing conditions, and treatments. I imagine you're completely overwhelmed right now (we've all been there) b...
