Re: Overworried ?

For now, in the absence of more information, I suspect you're thinking too much. While a rise in CEA is always on our radar, trends over time are more important than a single test because CEA is influenced by so many things, not just cancer.

Re: Is this legit

I didn't watch the whole video but I'm familiar with Dr. Seyfried's work, and I have a lot of respect for him. It's essentially keto for cancer, which is controversial for the long term. I'm no medical expert but as I understand it, one issue is that depriving the cancer of glucose might initially w...

Re: How obsessed are you all with diet?

Berries are not the same as supplements. Big difference. Until you see a legitimate study saying that eating berries interferes with chemo, don't worry about it. One of the most common pieces of nutritional advice I've received - from several oncologists and dietitians - is to eat 1 cup of berries (...

Re: How obsessed are you all with diet?

I'm not an expert but I think I've worked with it all over almost 8 years as a Stage 4 patient, and have worked with a few oncology dietitians. I was vegan when I was diagnosed and I've been all over the board since then. There are differing theories with impressive experts on all sides. One group s...

Re: Stable disease

My last scan showed that an adrenal lesion was dying, which was ... just... WOW. That being said, I've been doing this for a long time, and "stable" is cause for celebration IMHO. Sorry, you did say picked up on scan, what type of scam was it? PET scan. Here's what the report noted: Known...

Based entirely on my own experience, continue to have your colonoscopies every 2.5 years, or more often if you can manage it and if you're not doing any other form of surveillance.

How are you getting on? How’s treatment going? Is it working to kick back the mets?

Thanks for asking. Mets are stable or shrinking. Fingers crossed.

Do you know why that is?

No ... but I'm getting my IVC from a naturopathic doctor who is board-certified in oncology and that was her advice when I asked the same question.

You should leave 24 hours between IVC and the infusion. If the pump is still attached, you're still in the infusion period.

Re: 5FU and folic acid

Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate. Folic acid is added to flours and enriched grain products to help prevent birth defects. Folates, which occur naturally in foods such as leafy greens (among others), are good for you. Folic acid, the man-made knock-off, is the problem, and can increase the...

Something Green Tea wrote prompted me to post this. The Living Dying Project is a non-profit organization that offers conscious and compassionate support to those facing life-threatening illness, to their caregivers, to those facing life’s most difficult situations, and to anyone committed to spirit...
