Re: Anyone have luck with non-traditonal late stage treatment

Sorry I know of no non-traditional cures. If cancer could be eliminated with "all-natural sunshine" and such things, no one would ever suffer from this terrible disease.

Chemo, radiation, surgery -> those are all the tools we have.

Re: LAR three years on

OK. Please try more soluble fiber. Apples, bananas and rice to some extent have a good track record of firming up stools. After eating those foods to firm up the bulk, you may need to get on some colace temporarily to keep the stool flowing through your colon. Unless this is a LAR syndrome (which a ...

Seattle is much better than Arizona in cancer care.

Please go to the University of Washington Cancer Center.

Re: Starting Folfox on Monday

Please ask your doctor to add a biologic to kill any remaining cells/cancer in your body.

I would recommend you ask for Avastin (Biologic) as well as a PET scan to see if the stuff is anywhere else in your body.

Get it done ASAP. It is always better to know than to not know.

Stare the fear into its face. Blessings.

Re: 5 weeks post-reversal

I had all of the above that you've described. The only thing that helped was time. I've seen a lot of board members use colace. This seems to help with keeping the stool moving through your colon. Often times, after ileostomy surgery, the colon is confused after having been disconnected for so long....

Re: Radiation for lungs???

I will post my two cents here. Take my advice/comments with a grain of salt, since I am not a medical oncologist or radiologist. Having said that, a lot of board members here have had SBRT (I am assuming this is the kind you will have) on their lung mets. This seems to have been very successful, and...

Re: BIG (BIG!) MSS-CRC Immunotherapy News Out of ASCO! (MEKi + PDL1i)

cobimetinib was approved by FDA last year, and atezolizumab was approved yesterday. i'm sure that if you find a way to convince your doctor to ask you to give you the drugs, it's possible.

i'm sorry that a clinical trial is not possible.

Re: Stage 4 CC and no scans for first 5 months of treatment?

Please push for a scan. If they don't approve it don't fret. Is it better to know than to not know? Yes, definitely. It is better to know if anything pops up. Don't be afraid of a scan. It makes a big difference to go to a cancer center that is on the NCI list. The higher ranked the better, IMHO. Th...

Re: Question about possible future lung mets

See if you can go to Germany or UK to get the Lung Surgery from Dr. Axel Rolle or George Ladas. There are a few here on this site who have been there and done that. In order for these guys to see you, the only affected organ has to be the liver, I believe, 99% sure, especially dr. Rolle. Dr. Ladas i...
