It is unlikely that hemorrhoids would cause flat stools. If you are having flat stools, I recommend you discuss this with your primary care physician as soon as possible.

While there can be other reasons for flat stools, there's only one way to determine the true cause. Get scoped.

I had flat "ribbon" stools for years that were always attributed to internal hemorrhoids. Three years prior to my eventual stage II diagnosis I even had a flexible sigmoidoscope that stopped after finding a bleeding internal 'rhoid.

If you're offered a flex sig, insist on the complete colonoscopy.

Hi

I had scope rougly 7 months ago due to left lower stomach pain. I was dx with internal hem's and mild div.. no surgery as anti biotic did the trick.. but lately I had a bit flat bm's, My cousin is MD and he told me i shouldn't be worried since I had scope not that long ago and usually its good for 1 year or so . But I will see my doctor soon and try to get one more colonscopy, any suggestions?

If the flat stools are a new symptom, get another scope. No diagnostic procedure is perfect and sometimes things are missed. If the doc was in a hurry with a pre-conceived notion, it's possible. It's also possible the diverticulosis has become diverticulitis. In any case, I'd not delay.
