Colon Cancer Takes Another - Shawn Felty

Postby seussfan » Sun Dec 13, 2009 11:03 pm

We received and email today that Shawn has lost his battle with colon cancer. Below is the post his cousin Duane put on his Facebook page.

"On 12/13/09 at 4:30 pm, Shawn passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He was loved by many, with nearly 100 teammates, fellow actors, colleagues, cancer survivors, cancer fighters, Colondar models and friends visiting him the last few days. For 2 years he battled cancer with incredible strength and extraordinary grace and he was inspiration to all who knew him."

I was blessed to have know Shawn. We got in touch shortly after he returned from the Colondar photo shoot when he found out we lived less than an hour away from one another. We bonded as fellow Colondar models and became friends. The last time we got together was on Nov. 18th at the Kaleidoscope ice show in DC celebrating cancer survivors. He was having such a great time. Last night when we visited him in the hospital he was struggling to breathe and fighting against a bad case of pneumonia. I know it meant a lot to his mother that so many people were praying for him. The Colon Club and Colondar families were so very important to him. I am so saddened by his loss. It all happened so fast.

Shawn loved Pitt, playing softball, acting, being a colon cancer advocate...I know he is in heaven pain free...may he rest in peace.

I want to give my condolences to all of Shawn's friends and family. Shawn was an inspiration to me in the positive manner in which he went about life in spite of daunting odds against him. Shawn ..Rest in Peace. I wish I would have come down to to house this fall to watch a few Pitt football away games with you and Dwayne this fall as I said I planned to do so. I know that you have positively touched and affected the lives of the many people who cared about you. My thoughts are with you. Your Friend, Michael Shounder Lebanon High School Class 89'

I just read Shawn's colondar bio. Wow...
He's had colon issues most of his life, yet he was such a fighter! I can't believe he's gone....not a good day in cancerland. :(

I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn this past August at the Big Dam Problem fundraiser in Little Rock. What a great guy! So upbeat and positive. He was a lot of fun to be around. I am so saddened by his passing.
