Solitary common iliac recurrence

Postby Dennyp » Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:40 pm

Hey all, just wondering if anyone had a recurrence to 1 common iliac lymph node? Diagnosed May of 2019 with Stage 3C sigmoid tumor. Diagnosed September with stage 4 because of recurrence to one lymph node. Started Folfiri 4 rounds then CT scan and then determine next steps after scan. Has anyone had a similar experience, I can’t find much on line about this kind of recurrence.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question.

Rather . . . Can the medical professional remove the lymph node? Might be something a serious cancer center can address.

Good luck,

Hi ,

There is some research on Cyberknife treatment for iliac node recurrence. I read on a different forum of someone who had it and was reasonable to go through .

Might be worthy of a read . Hope you get significant shrinkage and it’s quickly dealt with .
Take care ,

Update. After my 4th round of FOLFIRI the tumor has shrunk. I will have surgery in January to remove the lymph node.
They are now treating a local recurrence.

Ablation?

I’m not sure, I’m meeting with the surgeon this Thursday. Things are moving fast, which I’m fine with!

Update 2. I had surgery to remove the lymph node on 1/15. They got everything, pathology shows cancer was only in that one lymph node. Because this type of recurrence is pretty rare I’m not sure of my prognosis but I choose to believe it’s pretty good and none of my doctors disagree so I’m going with that! :P

Congrats on a successful surgery. I too had distant nodes in my first recurrence but in more than one. Wondering if your team is suggesting any follow up treatment or just scans? Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for responding. I am in the same situation although had a positive signatera test after surgery so I am on a watch and wait that unfortunately is just that, not if but when it shows up. Best of luck to you!
