Scars

Postby shaina » Wed Nov 18, 2020 2:44 am

After surgery around one-and-a-half years ago, I now have multiple scars, especially an ugly five-inch abdominal one plus around 4 other scars from colostomy, stents, etc. Sometimes they itch and even get infected under my small "apron."

Any advice on how to deal with these, physically and mentally? It's getting me down, they are so ugly (to me). I don't know how to be positive about these, even though I'm way past the age of wanting to look glam in a bikini!

Thanks, wishing everyone well and a full recovery for those who need.

Hi, maybe have your surgeon refer you to a plastic surgeon. I have one on my team and he is wonderful.

If they are itching and getting infected you could ask for a referral to wound care, perhaps.
