CEA on the rise ... PET scan scheduled

Hello,
My DH's CEA has gone up the last month twice, from 433 to 534 and last week 582... they are doing a PET scan tomorrow, to see "whats going on"... oddly enough this rise began right after they stopped the Oxaliplatin, could there be a connection??? I am concerned as the CT scan he had last month notated a streaky opacity on his lung, but did mention it was likely focal scarring vs a nodule... I have been scrounging through google and did see sometimes if cancer is dying off the CEA could rise ... praying for that .. any one with experience with this please chime in... thanks soo much

Sorry to hear this. CEA always makes me nervous and causes so much anxiety. My CEA was once 600 and went down doing FolFox. Eventually my oncologist decided that FolFiri is the next step for me and put me on that and it made a big impact on reducing my CEA. Has your husband Oncologist tried FolFiri on him?

Hi,
We are going today for the PET results, not knowing why the increase as of right now, his Dr. mentioned changing his regimen if the 5FU Avastin stopped working... I think she mentioned Xeloda... he is not going back on Oxaliplatin, hes had numb feet for 3 weeks now.. praying for the best news today... I will post back later
