PostOp Sigmoid colectomy

Postby njknittle » Thu Feb 13, 2020 11:34 pm

I just had an open sigmoid colectomy and I'm just curious to see what others dealt with. 4 hours out of surgery and I feel tons of pressure in my abdomen and it hurts to cough. Every now and again I'll get a super sharp pain for a second but I'm pretty sure it's related to the gas.

I hope that your pain is getting better!*hugs* I had an open surgery in 2014 where half of my sigmoid and half of my rectum were removed. I had 23 staples. I found hugging a pillow when coughing or sneezing helped it not pull as much on the incision. I would get the sharp pain too. Walking and heat helped with gas. I hope your recovery is going well!*hugs*
