I'm due for my HAI pump removal too!!!
They said it's just outpatient surgery (no overnight stay in the hospital). I believe they said it would take about an hour. The incision will be glued, not stapled. They leave a piece of the catheter in place (the tip that's in your artery) because they've learned that is safer than trying to remove it.
That's all I know so far. They will remove my port at the same time. I expect some bruising but they said I'll only need Extra Strength Tylenol for any pain afterwards.
It will be weird to go through TSA without setting off alarms or getting patted down.
I'm so used to it by now that I just tell them I need to go through the whole body scanner instead.
Let me know when they've decided Pete's surgery date and maybe we'll be there at the same time!!!
