HAI on a personal level

Postby Mohrfamily » Wed Nov 06, 2019 5:54 am

DH is less than a week away from surgery numero uno! Colon resection and HAI yay!

This is a personal question that just dawned on. Sex AND HAI, weird? Doable? Top, bottom? Lol forgive me please just plain curiosity!
DH dx stage IV liver mets largest 6x6.4 cm
Colonoscopy/endoscopy/port place 5/29
4cm mass in splenic flexure
1st round FolFox 5/30
08/2018 new CT no new lesions, clear lungs, slight decrease in colon.
3/2019 PET scan shows greater than 6-7 liver mets largest measuring 3x3 cm. No growth nothing new.
8/15/19 largest liver lesion 1.9x2.1
9/16/2019 OSU to proceed with surgery implant HAI and colon resection
11/19 resection of colon HAI placed
2/20 CEA back to 1000s, liver worse than when we began-start FOLFIRI

I've always thought it's weird that oncologists never discuss sex or anything related to intimacy with patients. The most they did for me was a short discussion about harvesting some eggs and freezing them before I started chemo... BUT then they discovered I was Stage 4 so why bother?

Surgical scars, thinning hair, chemo-induced fatigue, nausea, and neuropathy hardly function as aphrodisiacs, but the HAI pump didn't change a thing. However, I will say this: at the end of treatment there is nothing more restorative to one's sexual vitality that realizing you've beat cancer down to a non-detectable level in your body! And (fortunately) I found a partner who thinks abdominal and chest scars are sexy. :D
