Splendidly. I'm strong enough to yell for the dogs when they went chasing something off in the woods this morning. Pushing the oxy back to every 6 hours instead of 4. Getting out of bed is way easier.

I have a badass scar. I'm totally showing this thing off. I'm a survivor and that's my proof. I fought hard to get that scar. I'm proud of it. Not everyone gets the chance to be rescected. I understand that reoccurrence is most likely, but we'll blow that bridge up when we get to it. But I won this battle.

I just had to check mine. It's almost gone. The ileostomy and port scars are still prominent though.

Amy, I’m so glad your recovery is going well. I’ve been following your posts. I remember lying in bed with my own baby after the liver resection. It will be six years this Saturday since that surgery, and my liver has been cancer-free since then.

I hope you are able to relax and take it easy at home while you are recovering, and that you’ll be picking up that little baby very soon!

Oh! And I’m sorry to hear about chicken nugget. :(

Best,
Donna

You know what else was chopped?????

My hair. Had my husband use his clippers and off it went. It was time. I had lost so much and it refuses to stop. So now if it's going to fall out, it will be stubble.

Bald is beautiful.

So. I'm a week and a half post op.

Off of all pain meds. Went to XC meet this morning, walked about 2 miles. Freshman daughter (baby #4) ran her very first high school 5k and placed 2nd overall for all 1-4A schools. She got a medal and her picture in the paper!!! She's 14 and ran a 25:45, first place was a senior that ran 24:51.

I'm so proud of her. I'm so thankful that I'm healthy enough to do these things. Baby #5 has his first football game of the season tonight and I'll be able to go to that and cheer him on.

Life is so good.

Amy -

You are so inspiring. Keep keeping us up to date.

6/13/19 - CEA dropped from 214 to 22
8/29 - CEA jump to 30-- scans reveal liver spread, though still confined. triplet therapy abandoned; some concern about PIC3 mutation interfering with BRAF treatment
9/1 - 10/4 -- no treatment
10/4 -- folfoxfiri to stem further progression; pump placement in January (hopefully)

It's been 17 days since resection.

I feel really good, which makes me do too much, which results in me being sore. Not bad enough to take any tylenol but enough to notice and be uncomfortable. Overall, it's really manageable.

Another XC race today, another first place award for our runner. She ran an extremely hilly course and shaved more than a minute and a half off of last weeks race. 24:17. Football game is starting in a little more than half an hour for our 4th grader. Here's to hoping he gets a little more playtime! He got credited for his first tackle of the season last week, hoping he gets another today!!

I see the desire to return to normal as being really strong in many people here and in other places - that have had major setbacks. I think that drive to get things done provides us with hope that we will get there and helps with the recovery process.
