Amy, you have such a delightful attitude.
Hope your recovery continues to go smoothly and that you get back to your family really soon.
I'm sure all those kids, dogs and your DH won't be the same without you.

Yep, love those drugs!!! :D :D :D

Congratulations on a successful liver resection! It sounds like you're doing very well. Walking and eating lots of protein will help you heal faster.

They are talking about letting me go home tomorrow. I've showered, I've walked, I've done the stupid breathing thing. I can pee by myself. I guess if they load me up with drugs I can try to take it easy at home. That's going to be the hardest part. I need to sit my ass still and heal!

Congrats Amy! Well done. First 2 weeks after the liver op were definitely the hardest for me; it rapidly improved after that. I was pretty tired for another few weeks though. Finding a comfortable sleeping position was a big one - I created a sort of pillow fort on the bed and slept on it, which was fun. Other than that, I gather livers grow back in about a month so you won’t even miss it soon! :D

Keep up the awesome job.

While I did not have my liver removed, following my surgery to remove my tumor, I could no feel things as well (bladder wise) as I did prior to surgery, I remember going to the bathroom every few hours weather I needed to or not. I would even get up during the night just to pee. after a few months, everything was fine.

Just remember to keep walking, walking, walking.

So. Guess who got out of the hospital? It's me!!!

Waiting on the pharmacy to fill all my prescriptions then I'm going home. Currently in the car, holding a sleeping baby. I didn't want to wander around Walmart in my jammy pants. I missed this baby so much. You can tell he missed his mommy.

First night home, not bad. Set an alarm so I didn't miss an oxy dose. That doesn't do anything for me but help with pain. I don't get a high or any enjoyment out of it. I honestly don't get the attraction, why do people get hooked on this then move to heroin? :? I'm assuming my dose isn't high enough?

They have me on a muscle relaxer and something for nerve pain as well as taking tylenol. Oh, and I have to shoot up my belly with a blood thinner for the next month.

Overall, I feel pretty good. I need to figure a better way to get out of our bed at night, I want to use nothing but abs, those don't work quite yet! I need to make sure I'm not lifting Nicholas, as he weighs much more than a gallon of milk. That's my weight restriction. I can drive if I feel up to it and haven't taken an oxy. My husband is off all week, so I don't HAVE to do anything. Just hold a fat boy!

And omg these dogs. You'd think I was gone 4 years instead of 4 days!! A bit of sad news: my bird just up and died on Saturday. Was fine, then just wasn't. No idea what happened to him. My 14 year old held him as he passed, he's getting buried today. My poor little chicken nugget was only 5 months old. The point of getting him was so I could outlive him. I won, but it feels like cheating!

Anyway, that's what's going on with me today!

Oxy made me feel disoriented and I didn't like it so I didn't get the prescription filled.

Sleeping on a recliner with a lever can make getting up easier as you use your arm instead of your abs. Sleeping on a triangular wedge can make things easier too.

It sounds like you're doing great after a tough surgery.
