I don't have much longer.

Postby JustAThought » Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:38 pm

Got back from a surgery last week. Took a bit of time to recover. Results came in - not looking good. My kids are young (son and daughter just started grade seven) and my wife is scared to death, but who could blame her? Hoping to spend as much time as possible with my family. The doctor says around 4 months. He suggested a higher dosage of the same meds I've been on since the start of the year in hopes of slowing progression. I accepted.

Been through this entire shenanigan for 5 years now. Now's no excuse to be holding off on parts of life I've been meaning to catch up on. Please all - take good care of yourselves and others. I know my son and I have not been on the greatest terms, but my love for him is higher than the stars.

Love to all,
Joe

I am so sorry to hear that. I know your son knows your love for him along with your whole family. We are harder on ourselves when it comes to things like that, but they feel it, I'm sure.

Thanks to all for your words. I never properly introduced myself. Found this forum as a way to vent. I'm currently sitting back on my recliner next to Wilbur the family terrier. The day is lovely so far. I hope to continue working until my heart gives out. It takes this cancer off my mind, and helping kids grow stronger is such a treat.

Pleasant afternoon,
Joe

Hi Joe

I’m so sorry to hear you and your family is going through this. I think this is a safe place to vent your fears/worries and speak plainly about what your dealing with. You are facing the exact thing we are all scared of and fighting so hard to beat. I think most of us here have probably thought deeply about the possible outcomes but I’m not sure anyone can ever be totally prepared for the reality of it all. I know personally that it’s very hard to speak freely with my family regarding what I’m feeling or thinking because I see the pain and fear it causes them. It also seems to put people in a position where they feel compelled to say something to tell you to be positive and maybe we should eat more vegetables...( humour)

I’m sorry all of this was to say that this is a safe place to vent and say what you need to say.

Sending you and your family good wishes and warm hugs

We are living parallel lives, even are kids are the same age (12 year old boys can be, er, a challenge). I opted for nothing, what did they give you to slow it down?

Joe
Best wishes to you. Try and enjoy whatever time you have on this planet. It may be longer than you think. Or maybe not. Leave that decision to higher power with whom we all ultimately remerge.

We are all individual souls with our own scripts so don't worry about future too much.
Hugs and love.
