I have now asked for and gotten a colonoscopy appointment scheduled on 22th of August, that is in a month.

The Doctor was OK with it since I'm very worried. Neither my primary care doctor nor the gastroenterologist suspect CRC, and considers the risk of any disease other than IBS as low, since the bloodwork over the past years always shown normal results, stable weight, and f-hb/fit and also f-calprotectin (inflammation marker) always been normal despite having watery diarrhea shortly before, that even made me faint.

I lie if I say that I'm not nervous, but mostly from what they might "find", and also the prep which I read is pure terror! Is it that bad as everybody says? I'm scared that I will have another fainting, when the prep start flushing out the system, that's what happened last time i felt sick as mentioned above, I'm scared that it will make me vomit but not because of the taste but the reaction in the bowels to the prep. So I guess I have to use a helmet just in case LOL.

I will most likely post something here after the colonoscopy, even if it might be normal, because If other people come on this forum board and ask similar questions to mine and are worried and see my outcome it might help them to atleast calm down a bit and see that you can have these symptoms and not have CRC. I found that keeping the prep really cold helped some and chasing it with another clear liquid. I have a harder time with preps which require me to drink 2 liters. For my colonoscopy in September my GI is having me do a prep(pico salax) which only requires me to drink two mugfuls of prep. I'm in Canada so that prep may not be available for you. I would ask if it's possible do to a prep where you have to drink less liquid. I hope your prep goes well and that your colonoscopy is clear!*hugs*

Thanks! I live in Sweden and we have to drink 4 (!) liters. The prep is called Laxabon. But I will call them on monday and ask them if there is another option, with less liquid.

I've just done a quick Google and found this

PEG solution (Laxabon®) 4L is used for large bowel cleansing in many centers in Sweden and is the standard regimen used in our colonoscopy unit. In this study we compare this standard regimen with senna glycoside (Pursennid® Ex-Lax) 36mg (tablets) taken orally in the night before the colonoscopy and 2L Laxabon® solution orally starting to drink the solution four hours prior to the colonoscopy

Hello everyone! I just had my colonoscopy, it took 25 minutes. Everything normal, no inflammation, polyps or diverticula. The prep was a breeze, tasted like salt-water but It
was ok. The worst part for me was not beeing able to eat! The colonoscopy itself was nothing, I was awake and declined painkillers or sedation. In fact the needle in my arm hurt more than the actual colonoscopy but ofcourse I felt it, but it was short lasting. I'm very happy by the outcome of this, that now puts my mind at ease!

I also want to say to those of you who might read this post and are worried about symptoms that it's absolutely possible to have a normal colonoscopy and no illness with symptoms like mine such as "pencil-thin stools", and loose stools on a regular basis (that I've had). But get it checked by a doctor or a specialist!


I send my deepest sympathies and prayers for those of you who are struggling with the disease.

I forgot to mention that it was a big surprise for me after the colonoscopy because I had no bloating or gas at all, in fact I felt less bloated than before, very strange. I don't know if he didn't use so much air, or sucked some air out or what. is this common? I thought everybody had stomach bloating and farted after.

No idea about the difference in techniques, but I’ve never been bloated or farted after a scope

I saw my journal now online and it says they used co2/carbon dioxide instead of air. That might explain it.
In this case CO2 is a good thing, despite the climate debate (lol).
