Just had my latest colonoscopy

Postby Ron50 » Sat Jun 22, 2019 9:41 am

It was one of the better ones I've had. They used moviprep. Only had to drink 2 litres of the prep and another two litres of water. My colon was totally clear this time . No sign of any polyps , no diverticulitis and no colitis. Next scope in three years. I'm out to twenty one and a half years ex stage 3c but the scopes still make me feel a little anxious. Ron.

Moviprep!! That the name of the stuff they gave me. I thought it tasted horrendous but it got the job done.

Glad everything was clear for you, I know that's a huge relief.

My 5 year scope is coming up in August and I'm already anxious about it.....and, of course, the prep.
They Rx'd me Preopik which hubs had a few years back BUT.....I am doing the Gatorade/Miralax/Dulcolax prep.
I figure that if places like Mass General, Cleveland Clinic, and MSKCC (to name just a few) use this prep (on the internet....all the directions), I'm just going to use it.
Funny....my friend was due for her scope last month and her doc Rx'd her the ever so horrid GoLytley (who ever thought of that ridiculous name???). I told her about the Gatorade/Miralax/Dulcolax prep but she was too scared to try it. She knew, from past experience, that she vomited with the GoLytely so she talked to her doc about an alternative. Guess what they told her to do??? The Miralax/Dulcolax protocol. If these docs know it is a viable solution....then for crying out loud....give that option to the patient.

Me, I'd rather spend the what....$15 on supplies for a more tolerable prep. I couldn't care less that my insurance covers the Rx'd prep at $0 cost to me. Results are the same!

Ron....should have put this at the top of my post....CONGRATULATIONS! You truly are an inspiration to all of us! :)

This is the prep that I do. Will be having my 3rd scope in the fall. I take 2 Dulcolax 2 nights before scope, and Miralax mixed with Crystal Light lemonade instead of Gatorade. I had the option of Gatorade, but went with the Crystal light. I make the miralax/crystal light mixture 2 days before scope in a pitcher and put it in the refigerator. Drinking it cold makes it easier to do down. I have had no problem with this....

Excellent news, Ron!!! It's always a relief to get the "all clear". Hope you went out to celebrate!

I'm with you on this, Jaynee! Gatorade/Miralax/Dulcolax is inexpensive and does the job without worrying about any new expensive preps and their side-effects.
And, you're right, what marketing idiot named "GoLytely"?!!! :D :D :D
