I think I broke my gallbladder...

Postby AmyG » Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:22 am

I see my doctor on Monday, but until then we can pretend we're trained medical professionals.

So, my last CT showed my gallbladder was distended but no stones. Since I've been home from the hospital, I've had diarrhea constantly that's yellow and occasionally foamy. Isn't that attractive?

Dr. Google tells me it could be my liver, gallbladder or pancreas. Thanks, you're so helpful internet. Last labs showed bilirubin was okay, LD was a lot higher than my last draw. AlkPhos was higher too.

So let's play a game! Do we think this is a broken gallbladder or cumulative effects of chemo?

LOLZ @ MaggieNell !!!

Amy G - A broken gallbladder sounds like it can hurt ! Have you experienced any pain ? Diarrhea is a pretty common side effect of chemo. My oncologist said to blame most side effect on the chemo if one is still undergoing treatment. It's pretty much difficult even for him to pinpoint whether an aliment is chemo induced (unless scans shows otherwise) or actually something else until the chemo treatment stops !

PS: Not an expert in gallbladder problem but I'm bored and pretending to be medical professions sounds like fun at this moment. I hope someone with gallbladder problem can contribute more positively than me ! :)

I've had some pretty wicked reflux type pain. Also, right under my xiphoid process hurts when I eat. Who knows wtf is wrong with me.

If this were an episode of house, I'd have lupus.

Well, I obviously stink at diagnosing gall bladder problems, because that's what I thought I might have when I went to the ER and turned out to have colon cancer! On the other hand, the doctors were betting on appendicitis, until they saw the CT results. Or maybe they were just being nice and were only HOPING for appendicitis, given the alternative.

However, I consulted Dr. Google, and my diagnosis is STRESS. "Part of your body’s response to stress and anxiety may be to speed up the digestive process. This limits the volume of nutrients your body can absorb and may cause diarrhea and yellow stool."

Anything that shortens the digestive process and causes undigested fat to wend it's way through you more quickly can cause yellow, floaty stools. Like chemo, colectomy.....

Well, my intestinal distress led me to having a potty full of nothing but corn. CORN!! This is so gross. I have pepto and imodium but hesitate to take it due to getting all backed up.

Stupid guts.
