2 year scan

Postby benben » Tue Jun 18, 2019 1:25 pm

Hi all.

Yesterday I had my 2 year CT-Scan.
I had very heavy scanxiety given it'd been a year since the last scan.
My CEA levels have been hovering 2.5-2.8. I've had some mild abdominal discomfort from time to time.
Overall, my energy levels and overall health seemed pretty good.

Long story short the scan came back NED! So I'm celebrating 2 years and 2 months cancer free today.

It's been a fantastic year for me. I've biked several thousands of miles, had my port removed, and met a wonderful
woman that loves me regardless of my diagnosis. Took a trip to Hawaii and have been planning a property purchase/home building/cohabitation
with said lady :). We were holding back on closing on a property until results were in. Now we're taking the plunge forward.

Wishing you all well!
thank you.

Woot woot!! My husband will never be NED (once cancer is in the bone, the specialists won't ever call it NED because it's still there, you can rarely remove the bone) but it's always great to read that others have reached this important milestone. May it stay that way!

LOL. Yes, I didn't want to open my scan results on the portal. My GF stopped by and we looked together. It was a happy conclusion :).

I'd imagine that it lessons with time. This one for me seemed greatest given some periodic abdominal discomfort and the fact that majority of recurrence happens in the first 2 years.

I hope some day that a cure can be had for any stage. Perhaps immunotherapies or some other method of treatment will make it possible.
I wish your husband the best health and QOL he can have.
